Correct Rims--1968 K10 SWB

I want to get rid of the ralley rims on my K10 and the 33" tires and go back to either stock or slightly larger (31") tires on stock rims. I need details on the stock rims and also perhaps a source? Any help would be appreciated! If someone close to Milwaukee Wisconsin knows of some please advise. Also, what would the stock tire size have been on this truck? SPID doesn't indicate anything on that front.

Thanks, Dave.

Re: Correct Rims--1968 K10 SWB

Base tires were 8.15-15 4pr tubeless blackwal tires on 15x5.5" black wheels.
Hub caps were not standard nor available as an RPO option.

Question is how stock is your truck?
Do you still have the original drum brake front end?

What kind of driving do you do?
Is a true period look more important than road manners?

Thanks, truck is all original save for the tires and rims. It's still got the drum brakes. I plan on keeping it original. Since it's an anniversary edition perhaps the wheels were white? I haven't seen any other ones like it in 4WD so don't have anything to compare it to.

Just saw your note on your Husky. Love the dogs, I hope you find him. I recall one story here in Wisconsin where a dog and his owner were reunited after 3 years--someone had found the dog and kept it not knowing who the owner was. They ran into each other in town one day.....

Can't help you much more but maybe Bruceman1968 can later.
But several period advertising pictures show 50th C20s on the correct silver wheels so the 4x4s may very well have kept the black.

On the bright side if you like them, street tread white walls were optional!

Finally a larger tire was required if your truck is a Custom Camper Z81.

Whitewalls ain't going to happen! Perhaps Bruceman68 can help. It would be great to find someone else with one of the K10 50ths out there to work from..... though I think I only need the wheels for reference and I'll be good to go.

If you really want to be hardcore period.

They even make the 8.00-16.5 tires.

Re: Correct Rims--1968 K10 SWB

The RPO spec'ed wheels on my '68 C/10 were 17.5 x 5.25" in factory Argent Silver.
Original tires were 7.00x17.5 6 ply bias. I went to 8.00 x 17.5s in the mid-'70s when the 7.00s were hard to get, and 8R17.5LTs radials in the '80s. The 17.5 rims were shot by 2002, and I had to go with 16'' white spoked rims with 235/85R16LT, for approximately the same stance.
17.5 x 5.25" factory rims are virtually impossible to find now. For some reason the Original Owner ordered that size.

Dave, The annie package was trim and paint only. So it shouldn't effect your rim color. 1968 K10 rims should be black. Sorry I don't have a original K10 annie in my doc collection to be sure.

Mine had these on when I picked it up from the original owner. Rear was wider, not sure if that was original though.

Re: Correct Rims--1968 K10 SWB

So are the fronts shown 15x5-1/2 or 16x5? Without a doubt wider rears are not "stock".
