Wing window opinions please?

I just replaced all the weather stripping and window regulators in the 69 CST yesterday, I really want to replace the wing windows and main window channel on both sides as well. My question is from the vendors, is there any of them that are better quality than the others? At $250 a pop, I want as good a quality product as I can get.

Thank you,

RonWT

Re: Wing window opinions please?

Are the windows rusty and corroded? If not you can have them rebuilt. I sent mine to a guy in the northwest. He rebuilt them like new for a reasonable price. He also has a You tube video on the subject of rebuilding the wing windows. I'm glad I sent mine to him. If interested let me know and I'll backtrack for the info. Been a couple of years ago. Don't know if the aftermarkets are any good.

Yessir, I am interested. I did find a contact here that rebuilt them, but he is having trouble being able to do it now. I am not sure if he may be the same man you are talking about.

Thank you

Go get some from Roger - http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=576998

I bought aftermarket and they were nice, but didn't fit great, so I got some from roger that are top notch!

Thanks Jason, he is who I contacted here, he has had some trouble with vendors or something to do with Chrome, and has none available.

Is Roger doing better now?
I remember someone says he was having health issues.

Re: Wing window opinions please?

I got mine from Roger Kopp. Chrome but back then he also had black. They were super nice. Hope he is OK. I sent my old ones to Roger and he gave me a core price reduction.

Jerry Kassis did mine. Couldn't have been happier with the results and his communication was excellent.

Do your vent windows leak air noise at highway speeds, or do you feel like they seal very well?

I'm waffling between sending mine off to him or just switching to single piece glass and eliminating those seals altogether.

It might help your decision to Do a search in this forum.

One piece window glass

Here is on thread on that subject.

Re: Wing window opinions please?

I suppose I'm really asking if there is any hope of a vent window not whistling at 65mph+, and specifically whether or not Dr J's rebuild did seal out air noise.

The "one-piece glass debate" appears to be all over the place.

Re: Wing window opinions please?

Dr J is the guy. Watch video on post 9 and you'll see why you won't want to do it yourself. He did a stellar job on my vent windows and he's a really nice guy to boot.

Re: Wing window opinions please?

Mine passenger wing window has a slight leak at speed. I believe it has to to with the quality of the gaskets and not the quality of work.
The drivers side is perfect. Results may vary.
I have heard of some nightmares going with one piece windows. I would research it closely before spending money on them.
Cheers.

Re: Wing window opinions please?

My passenger side wing window, the stud poking down into the door that has a spring on it, that is either broken off or unscrewed, etc. I haven't delved into that part of the truck yet. Is that fixable? I'm not sure how it's put together.

Most likely broke spring. You can fix that. The hardest part is removing the assembly from the door

I assume the spring is down inside the door, along with the stud. The bottom of the vent window swings freely so the stud is missing.
