‘67 L6 no spark...

Truck has sat outside (and covered) for a couple months to include one solid week of below-freezing weather. I’ve checked and cleaned the points, checked the condenser using the analog meter technique - I haven’t checked the actual capacitance yet - the distributor cap and rotor looked rather worn on the contact points, so I’ve got those items ordered - should get them Monday.

Am I missing anything?

Re: ‘67 L6 no spark...

I will suggest run a (real) copper penny.
Yes a penny
Thru the points.

This will clean the contacts.

Try it .
its a free
This will put new copper on the points and let you know if it is just the points.
Your going to replace them anyway

I’ll do that! Thanks!

Re: ‘67 L6 no spark...

Checked yellow wire (okay) and cleaned points with penny...then noticed the vacuum advance arm was out of its slot...I don’t know if that happened during my working on the dizzy or if some ice gremlins did it during the big freeze...anyhoo the truck cranks and runs (although it’s missing and coughing just a little bit - replacing points, condenser, dizzy cap and rotor should clear that up if I get everything adjusted right....

It’s back safe in the garage! I’m happy!

Tell us about the plugs... Gap? Color?
If they're the simple copper tip [not platinum or splitfires etc.] you can dress them with an ignition file, cleaning up any oxidation, and regap. .035'' for Points.
A Dwell/Tach/Volt Meter is indispensible for tuning non-electronic ignitions.

Plugs are good...I’ll be using the DTV meter as I finish up.

Re: ‘67 L6 no spark...

I’ve seriously considered (and still am considering) buying an HEI dizzy, but I’m a bit OCD regarding originality plus I enjoy tinkering.

Re: ‘67 L6 no spark...

Have you tested both the primary and secondary windings of the coil to confirm the coil is good?

With an ohmmeter, yes - coil is good.
