Where can I find a GMC front clip?

I used to see them on Ebay but cannot find them anywhere now. I am looking for the front clip to the 57 Chevy model kit that converts the front end to GMC, New hood, grill, and dash I believe. Let me know if you've seen it. Thank you.

Re: Where can I find a GMC front clip?

Here's a link to a site with a listing, but I'm not finding any photos. There is a phone number and email at the bottom of the listing. I've also seen the conversions on eBay from time to time, perhaps this is where they came from. I've checked through every resin manufacturer I could find and come up with nothing. Modelhaus used to make 1960 GMC models but the molds wore out and they were not interested in retooling (I recently exchanged emails). I don't know if they ever made the mid 50's trucks or conversion parts.

Good luck.

Also, here's a link to an outfit that sells a small back window cab if that is of any interest:

Awesome, thank you, I'll give them a call on Mon. I used to see them on Ebay but now I can't find them, I even have it as a saved search but haven't seen anything in about a year.

Re: Where can I find a GMC front clip?

The kit comes with a hood, grill, bumper, dash, tailgate, hood emblem, fender emblems and hub caps. Here is one of the 57 GMCs I built. I will sell you a kit. You can email me trklvr12@aol.com

Re: Where can I find a GMC front clip?

What are you asking for the kit? Not sure the tailgate will do me any good, but I can figure something out. I'm pretty damn sure no one makes a GMC fleetside tailgate, that'll have to be custom....

Re: Where can I find a GMC front clip?

The Modelhaus used to have a GMC fleetside tailgate insert that fit the original 60s Chevy truck kits and promos. Here is one I am working on. The grill is scratch built by me and the bumper guards came from one of Shawns 57 GMCs. I still need to make a hood emblem and change the color, not liking it.

I actually have one of the GMC fleetside tailgate inserts. I bought a semi-complete 1960 GMC resin kit from Modelhaus about 15 years ago when they were still making them, and the tailgate insert was included. All of my builds are stepsides, so I have no use for the insert. If you want it, PM me your address and I'll mail it to you. I've added the dimensions in case it is too much different than the 55-59 version.

Re: Where can I find a GMC front clip?

That will work. That is the same insert I used on my 58 GMC above. A little trimming and cut out the center of the 58/9 tailgate and insert it.

Bought it! The one Mr. GMC sold me was the wrong front end, oh well, got the correct one on Ebay.

Re: Where can I find a GMC front clip?

First off none of this is Mr. GMC's fault.... but I had bought this front end kit and I didn't even realize it was incorrect until now so I'm taking the blame for it. I purchased the correct kit on Ebay today and was wondering, what kit did I get from Mr. GMC? What year is this for? Anyone interested in it?

Re: Where can I find a GMC front clip?

Cameron, I thought you were doing a 57 GMC. That is what the kit is that I sold you. I have more 55 kits than 57 kits so I would have traded you if you would have told me. Sorry for the confusion. The seller on ebay is Shawn Carpenter, so I guess he is still making them.

No worries, I'll just resale this kit here, or on Ebay. Like I said, I wasn't pointing fingers. I just know that my truck is a 56 with a 57 hood and hood emblem. So all in all I'm taking the blame for this one. I may still be willing to trade ya as I may end up screwing one up and it might help to have one as a backup :P
