SpecialK... I ALWAYS think of you as my age... I don't know why, every once in a while you show otherwise, but within a week, you'll be 30-something again.

Re: Try again Custom Campers pics please I'll start

Ok so here is a stupid question. How do you know if it's a custom camper or not. i have the same rear bumper as a lot of these, but I don't have any custom camper emblems.

no badges, no option package... onless they have been removed.
Look on the SPID, it should list it if it was equipped.
All it is is HD tires, shocks, springs, and a sway bar.

is that the same "custom" emblem that GMC used above the door handel?
did they use the same thing and just add "camper?"

Re: Try again Custom Campers pics please I'll start

WOW! Thanks for the compliments.Especially yours,Andy.I think I fool the young girls, too.Either that,or they just like old guys.I guess I`m what you call young at heart.I think driving these trucks all these years actually slows the aging process.A kind of time warp or something,ya think?
Soonffish, that is correct. The "custom" is the same part and "camper" is just added.I think on mine it even had the nameplate listed on the VIN-spec sheet. On my`72 CheyenneSuper it`s not listed and it has the script on the door.Pretty much the same truck except 4wd and a Super.
This is a nice collection so far.Andy`s right, there`s not alot that makes these trucks different equipmentwise. But,usually there were other good options added because they were leisure trucks.I`ve always had a thing for them because I like the "trucky" heavy-duty stuff anyway.AND,these tend to be great survivors if they were prettymuch just used for RVing. It`s not unusual to find them, still, with 70 or so thousand miles on them after 30 some years.
Here`s my two`72 K/20s.The blue & white CustomDeluxe Highlander CustomCamper.And,the red/orange & white CheyenneSuper CustomCamper(I replaced the grille,now):

in 69, it had a custom camper badge where the CST would be on the fender.

Here`s the`71 next to some ordinary looking car:

And,here looking all sleek cruisin` Myrtle Beach at night:

I need to redo this scan. But,it`s the`70 CustomCamper/30 I had that started as a Winnebago.I built a CustomWorker out of it.It served me well:

Re: Try again Custom Campers pics please I'll start

Jerry and Glock, those are some of the finest examples I`ve seen.I have a car/tuck,mostly car, picture of my one truck before a month of 1" ice took it`s toll on the re-paint.It lifted all the edges at the tim and any chips.I think it had surface rust that wasn`t addressed properly before the po painted it:

You can get another peep at it here.I wish I had taken more pics.I never used to think of it.I`ve had vehicles that I never took pictures of,like my`71 Suburban.Anyway, this is a picture of another truck. But,the CheyenneSuper CustomCamper`s in the background, see?
I tryed to crop, ehhh kinda crappy:

Re: Try again Custom Campers pics please I'll start

Here is mine....separate picture of 1969 Mitchell camper that came with the truck. Not as purdy as Special-K's but everything works in the camper and the truck is 99% rust free.
