Re: pull behind chance...

used boats are the one thing that i've found that you can throw money at faster than rusty old cars and trucks

My uncle used to always say ... " There are two happy days in a boat owners life, the day he buys it and the day he sells it" . I've owned two of them and I think he was right. OK , I know what you're thinking... I'm a slow learner. JMHO, Dean

454 jet drive = 120 bux a day in fuel With a outboard on the same boat you can go just as fast for 1/3 the fuel

okay I'm a big boy lol...I know it sucks fuel and the clyche about two happy days...owned a boat before...its not much cash and I can ride when I want...so that is not an issue...was looking for oppions on price not really on if I should get it lmao...jet drives handle like vettes on the water...if I need to worry about fuel I should not buy agreed...so I got a little redneck in Me...My boat has a bigger motor then My truck lol

Re: pull behind chance...

Sorry you didnt indicate you knew anything about them I have seen plenty of guys buy them then sell them after they seen the way they drink gas... a few had jet drive problems, all that bought and sold them wished they had been warned about them... the lure of "455" and "jet boat" sounded cool so they bought them, gotta admit your the first to say they handled well...

Most the jet boats still running around here have the headers coming out the top and are metal flake, I live 1000' feet from the river and it sounds like being at the drag strip then they are playing, they run WOT for 4-5 miles down river never letting up, sounds so SWEET!

Watch out for canoes heh

Enjoy your toy!

barepaint,
It looks nice, but i would say that an inboard handles a little bit better. We could turn an Xstar on a dime with 2500 pounds, plus about 8 people.

Re: pull behind chance...

A friend of mine works for a guy that deals in nothing but jet boats. They also race a 750Hp twin turbo 454 pickle fork boat. They buy them all the time for 2000-3500 needing work. Once fixed up he sells them for 10,000-15,000 online and he has a list of people waiting for them. If it runs and floats I'd say that's a bargain!

Re: pull behind chance...

I bet it would be a good place to LS7 CORES...I don't know the hp rating of a 454 in 1978 assuming it is a 78 engine...any guesses low to high? I agree I think I got a bargain...I can rebuild her...I have the technology...More power Scotty but captain she's gonna blow!!!!! I know jets will turn on a dime...driven them before...if u can stay on the boat and don't flip it...been close to there...
