Nice truck, welcome to 67-72's if it your first, there alot of nice folks on here that have seen it and done it all, so just dig into the faq section, the builds and every nook and cranny in between, i am new to this myself , i spend alot of time reading old post and the faq,s, but can't help but watch the nice builds too from time to time, so welcome from south carolina..

Re: pictures of my $800 72 stepside

I remember my first question was, there is alot of play in the shifter enough so that its hard to tell what geard you are in (when it is in drive it looks like it is in second and when you put it in reverse the reverse lights do not stay on unless you hold up on the shifter) is there an easy way to fix that?

im guessing there is no easy way to fix anything any help is appreciated

Re: pictures of my $800 72 stepside

Nice find & deal, love the short beds..

I had been looking at a 70 Fleetside SB not far from me. Guy was needing $$. Last time I went by, his house had burnt to the ground. His new 2005 Dodge Truck he had recently paid off & dropped the full coverage Ins on was parked between the house & the 70 SWB, . It got cooked. I told him at least the better truck won. Now He needs the 70 SWB for a DD. It did get hurt too bad, mostly just paint. Talk about Patina, nothing makes surface rust like fire.

I need to change my avatar:

Re: pictures of my $800 72 stepside

on your play in the trans linkage, check the rods from trans to shifting mechanism on steering column, the eyes and rods may be worn and any amount along the way will only add more play in the shifter, may have to add bushings, or reweld rod or resize holes, also check for free movement in and out on gear shifter also, lube roll pin at column to shifter handle.
