Couple questions on 1987 gmc v3500

Hello everyone. I have a few questions on my truck. The front bumper has fog lights in it but the bumper is beat up. I can’t seem to find bumpers for that year with fog light holes. Is it not original?

Front grill is the newer style flat lights side by side with driving lights below. When did they start these? The gmc”s like this seem to be later and was curious if it was switched.

What was original wheel covers for Duallies? Were they just painted or was there chrome hubcaps? Ye9 package

Did they still use hood ornaments on this year?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Couple questions on 1987 gmc v3500

First off, Welcome!!!

Pictures help out a lot. But I can answer a few. The bumper is an 81-82, if I remember right. I have that bumper on my 86. You can get new at LMC. Here's a pic of mine.
This also what the grille should look like. Mine had a Billet grille when I bought it, but I went back to the stock grille. This style of grille ran from 85-87 on the trucks. They ran later on the crew cabs, suburbans and blazers.
And yes, it should have a hood ornament, but most people don't when the Swap hoods. Again, mine had a Cowl Induction hood when I bought it, but I going back with the stock hood, and putting the ornament on it.

TKCR, my truck is a '87, and has a different grille than that. It has the single headlight on top, with the marker light/turn signal below. There's nothing in the grille. A google image search shows both styles for '87. Did they indeed use both? Why?

White Halftrack, it sounds like you're describing the late suburban grilles. I think I've heard they started those in '89, and went till the end of the run in '91. They're a common upgrade to older trucks. These grilles modernize the front end, look distinctly chevy, and are a bolt over swap.

It sounds like a PO did a Swap on the front end. This is the look for the 85-87. Unless maybe it is a low grade. This is for the Silverado

Just looked at the LMC catalog. Page 124 shows a double headlight and a single headlight front end for 85-87. You're probably right, that the more basic trucks only got the single headlight front end.
