Kinda confused here, I understand the flip is supposed to give 4" lift, the zero rate thing throws me a little. I was hoping to just swap in the 14 blt, possibly moving the spring mounts as needed, do the shackle flip, shock it and be done. Any help/pic's anybody?

The Zero Rates from Offroad Design are designed to give one additional inch of lift for the rear axle - it also gives you the option to move the axle back or forth one inch by way of offset spring pin holes.

The shackle flip I put on my 69 K20 was designed to give 4" of lift. When I did my lift I used 4" Tuff Country EZ Ride front springs and the combination left my truck's rear end a bit lower than the front. Not sure if my stock rear springs were sagging some or the front springs gained more than 4".

Ok, thank's guy's. I get it now! I think I'll go with the DIY 4X4 shackle flip n switch kit, I just like the looks of it better than ORD's shackle flip. Get a pair of ORD zero rates and a set of ORD u-bolt kits. Looking at the yokes on frt end, rear end, t-case, and driveshafts frt & rear. Want to beef all of them up to run the stoutest u-joints possible. Now that I think about this swap, it really isn't that compicated. Just need to aquire the right parts and assemble! Anybody else running the DIY 4x4 shackle flip n switch on a 1 ton axle? Pic's?

Thank's. I live in Marion, lower peninsula. About 2 1/2 hrs from Big Mac bridge, in good weather. Could have met with the seller in Oxford, Wis. That would have sent me your way, down thru Chicago. Would have been a little shorter, but I avoid traffic at all costs! I "ALWAYS" go north when I can! Thank's about the axles, it's been a long project, and I am very pleased to have this pair here finally. I don't know what the weather was like on new years day down there, but it wasen't that great going along the lake Michigan shoreline. Lucky to have a good pickup for the roadtrip. As of now trying to set enough cash aside to set these axles up right!

Please post all pics,I am thinking of doing the same swap in April some time, so all info u post will be used. My 74 will get a 14 bolt with a flip and what ever it takes to get road ready. It has a 4 in front rough country spring on it right now on 36 Irocks but it just got 2 cold 2 work on right now. I also have got a 1" tranny drop I will think of putting on if needed,so I can run stock drive shaft. Keep up the good work.

No problem DTC. I am currently trying to find a location to tear into this project. As far as pic's go, I plan on documenting every phase of my build. Going to also do a lot of video taping, so it should be cool!

Been searching, and have decided on going with DIY4X stuff! I will combine that with ORD setups, and that should cover it. Just hope there's some buds on the money tree!

yeah i know its a little hard to understand what all i have in mine but the total lift is 8 inches in the rear total and 7 in the front . thursday i will have pics been kinda hard to get to the shop to take pics .

Yea, after looking at ORD's and DIY 4X stuff, I have a plan. Pretty much know what I will need to set this up, just need the cash. Always like to see pic's! Would like to see some good pic's of a first gen shackle flip w/zero rate setup.

I think I've got the axle/suspension setup "thought out", now need to move on to steering and brake setups. Leaning toward just a 1 ton vac booster/master cylinder combo for 4 wheel disc brakes on the new axles. Looking at the crossover setup from ORD. Any pic's of your setup guy's? Planning on 40" tires , so plans do change.

I'm doing almost the same thing right now. I got a 60 / 14 from an 84 Chev 1ton. Luckily I didn't have to drive that far. Actually the guy breought them to my house. $1200 for the combo 456 gears. Wasn't a bad deal. Probably normal I guess. It's going under my 71 Blazer.

I'm keeping the 4.5" lift blocks on the back with add-a-leaf springs. 6" springs on the front. That setup was working well on my other truck with 44 / 12. 2" body lift, cut fenders, 38" tires. I already have all this stuff from my other truck (which I smashed into a tree).

Gotta do the body work first tho.

What's a drive line e-brake? I'm doing a disk conversion also on the 14. I was thinking of using the caddy calipers as suggested for e-brake, but I also would rather not have the extra cables down there.

What are you doing for steering correction? I was using a 4" drop pitman. I found that I couldn't turn all the way to the stops tho, so I'm thinking of adding a steering arm block as well.

Burt, thank's for the pic's. How does that hydro setup work on the highway? Just curios, as I still want to retain "some" road manners. I am currently running a superlift 4" steering arm and a superlift 4" adjustable drag link. Worked ok for the stock axle setup, but really squirrely on the highway. Part of that problem could be the 39.5 Super Swamper Bias ply tires though.

The Hwy manners seam fine but I haven't drivin it very far sence I went 1Ton, trailer queen and all
I did use the hwy a bit in November down in Pismo. My rig doesn't go pass 55 verywell anymore but as for the steering/hydro assist it's never been an issue. Nice and smooth one finger steering

The setup I have is somewhat custom. My 4" springs made for not so much room for HighSteer. I wanted to get rid of that tierod out front. WFO, Trevor, is were I bought my steering arms/crossover highsteer. We had to play back and forth with the postal service like 3 times until we got all the right parts to work with my low lift and 454. We started with his standard kit and that puts the Highsteer BEHIND the D60. No way I could fit that...I have two forward facing arms. The pass side tierod end is were my draglink connects too from the steering box.
I recomend when you buy steering arms get the type that eliminates the KingPin Spring. This spring is the #1 cause of defection AKA DeathWobble. Remove the spring and remove the DeathWobble

I'll take some pics for you too see more, I plan on tearing apart my D60 for full service very soon. If I can remember I'll snap some pics this weekend of the steering...

Anybody got pic's or info on high steer/crossover setups when going to the dana 60 front axle setup? Looking at purchasing parts for the swap and need some advice.

Really looking at using cv type driveshafts and a driveline e-brake setup. Any input on the durability and strength of the cv shafts vs typical u-joint shafts? Also, it seems to me that type of e-brake would be extremly stout over the traditional rear brake setup? Anyone using these, got comments, and maybe some pic's? Kinda pricey, but it's just money right?

By using the Ballistic Fab steering arms, you can eliminate the spring all together, which in turn will cure death wobble.
