Multi function switch

I have a 99 OBS Crew cab needs a new switch, watched a few videos read a bunch.
Do you need to pull the steering wheel for a no air bag column?

Re: Multi function switch

Nope dont need to pull the wheel off or the upper plastic column cover. #25 torx bit and a 1/4" end wrench.
And a 4mm socket will work on the invert torx head on the lower cover.
Brittle parts though go slow

Re: Multi function switch

I am needing to replace mine also, '98, airbag.

Found a YouTube video that showed how to replace it without disabling SRS or taking off the wheel, just remove the two halves of the clamshell.

For the life of me, I cannot find the video anymore and it's pissing me off. I've had the replacement part for weeks now.

All the videos from 1aa auto (or whatever) on YouTube all show removing the wheel and disabling SRS.

Re: Multi function switch

Not sure what differences between the two columns. But I didn't even pull the key tumbler. Left the top half of the clam in place.
Now my wipers work correctly too.

Sorry, long answer to a short question.

I had a bunch of credit on eBay/PayPal before they split. My Hazard switch has been stiff as hell for a while, I think a PO spilled something in it. I know there's a replacement kit for just the hazard bit, but the white text is wearing off my stalk, so I figured I'd replace the whole thing, clean it up, re-sell for $20-30 or something.

"Standard" brand has a pretty good reputation on their parts, very similar (or maybe the source) to Dorman, so I picked up theirs, p/n: DS698T

I got mine from eBay, but during a price drop from that seller. I think I got out the door for around $50, which was $5 cheaper than the one currently eligible for Amazon Prime, and about $30 cheaper than my big-box store with a 10% coupon.

There's a

4x price was is a huge difference for me. Only reason I didn't pay that high premium cost is Standard Motor Products manufactures at least some of Delco's stuff (Fuel Spider being one speedy talks about) so I was comfortable dropping $50 on a company that's trusted enough for Delco to re-brand parts on.
