1971 GMC 4x4 "California" model?

A guy down the road has a 1971 GMC four wheel drive that I've had my eye on for some time. It's a half ton, 350 auto, factory AC. 100% complete. He calls it a "California" truck. Not only because it came from California, but he says it's referred to that by the collector community. Anyone know anything about a "California" model? What would be a good, fair offer? I don't have any pics, but it is in good shape and ran about 10-15 years ago.

I believe the "collector community" likes saying they have a California car or truck because it has a better chance of being rust free, or at least very little rust. No way of telling value unless there are a lot of pictures to look at from many angles. Even then you will find varying opinions here on the board.

I'd have to agree with CG, likely only a reference to a truck that was born and lived its life in CA. Similar to a reference to a "southern" truck or car when selling, i.e. no road salt exposure.
But then again, I had never heard of the Husky edition until Mark posted his cool Custom Camper from WA! So, pics & SPID please !

Planning to go look at it a little closer soon. I'll post some pictures when I do. We're kind of in a stale-mate on price. I asked what he would take for it and he says "what's it worth". I always hate to throw out the first number, but might have to and just hope I don't offend him.

With a look at body, interior, engine, and SPID - and we can help you out with reasonable market value

I hear the same. It means it's from CA. So yeah, it would have the smog gear (or had). They are usually Freemont trucks, too. My '72 is a California Truck. It's also a Maryland Truck now. Spent it's first 29 years in CA and last 18 in MD. It's a Califarylandia Truck now.
