Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

Last year I did order fabric and vinyl for my 1979 GMC K25 bench seat from SMS Auto Fabric. I wanted original color/textures. They had the vinyl in stock, but the fabric took 6 months. They have a mill or access to one in Philadelphia I think. My guess is they were waiting to make a longer run of that fabric for other orders. Once I finally got it an upholstery shop stitched it up and I think it came out great. Put in new carpet at same time.

Oh yeah!! That looks really nice. I’m happy to hear you were able to get what you wanted. I really wish they, SEM or whoever, would make more of the OEM textures. I really believe there is more of a demand for it, than they believe. I literally get asked out it all the time.
Thanks for sharing! That really is a Beautiful seat

That's the stuff! I didn't see it on their website but I'll try calling. Another part of my issue is there was a 1979 only blue and I'm thinking that's not going to make anything easier for me.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

The customer from Kansas arrived safely to pick up his newly restored seat. 12hr drive, one way! I dismantled the seat down, for easier transport for him.
He was pretty happy and very impressed with the restoration of the seat frames and tracks. His wife couldn’t get over how the tracks looked. She said they looked BRAND NEW, compared to the rusty & dirty ones.

The pleasure was mine! been trying to catch up on my rest before installing the beautiful seat. Plus I have the dreaded loose tilt steering wheel fix, one of the worst jobs as far as I’m concerned
