Re: Saving the 63' from the grave

did get the new skins on last week and spent about 6 hours sat aligning the door and front end. fairly happy with the skins we all know the factory gap work isn't the best on these anyway so i have some hours ahead of me cutting and getting my gaps where i want them. got my f body pan coming this week to so i can mock the engine up to check for clearances.

Re: Saving the 63' from the grave

got all the bed parts in so got started on that. once i get it all mocked up i can get back into all the gap/fitment and final bodywork. also got the mock up 5.3 put in to check clearances on everything. had to do some trimming inside cab for the top of trans but very minimal.

Nice quality work and yes most replacement panels are lacking proper fitment.

Re: Saving the 63' from the grave

got most of my parts from nsaneparts and very happy with them. the door skins I did not and those were the worst panels on it so far but I expected the gaps to be off there.

Re: Saving the 63' from the grave

been slacking on updates on here. so here are some recent progress shots. most bodywork is complete just some touch up and probably one last block to triple check everything. got a lot of smaller parts rolling in while i'm getting the front tubs and core support area built

Re: Saving the 63' from the grave

Great work.

I'd like to see more on the hood latch set up you installed. Also, looks like you are going to turbo the engine since it looks like an intercooler mounted up in that one picture.

Those door panels are insane, did you make them or where did you get them?

Re: Saving the 63' from the grave

I will try to get some more latch pictures once the hood goes back on.
The truck has a built 5.3/4l80 with a Procharger D1SC going on it.
Munnsey speed and design makes the carbon door panels. they make a lot of composite parts for the 60 and up chevys and quality is top notch.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. Can't wait to get it out and about. hoping to travel a lot with it to some of the bigger shows out west next year too.

Re: Saving the 63' from the grave

Can I see some more pictures of where the front bed panel meets the wood and how the hinges work when it opens? How does the wood not hit the front panel when it opens? Your truck is looking real nice!

Thanks, Wade

Re: Saving the 63' from the grave

i'm using a "c" or "u" shaped hinge that as the bed hinges up it goes toward the rear of truck a bit. it's not much the wood is still close to hitting. I also put a 45 degree cut on the front of the wood pieces so that when it goes up there is more clearance on the bottom side of the wood so it doesn't come in contact.
i'll see if I have any more detailed pics on my phone and post up when I get a chance.

Re: Saving the 63' from the grave

rwade

here is all i have on my phone. i welded a lip all the way around to tuck the wood under. wanted it smooth with the inside panels which is the reason i did it this way. the wood barely tucks under it on the hinged center section. as you lift that section it comes back-up-and the farther you lift up the more it goes back forward. hope that makes since. it essentially make the wood sit underneath that lip to directly on top and you can see why i had to 45 the bottom of wood. this pic is with the section up farther than what i have it now with the shocks on it so the wood doesn't even sit that close to the top now.

Re: Saving the 63' from the grave

Man that’s an awesome idea! If you have time I’d love to see an up close of the hinges. I’m guessing you’ll be using some sort of flat bar? Or traditional bed strips?

Re: Saving the 63' from the grave

wow guess it's been a while since i've updated. side work has been crazy busy so the c10 has been sitting idle for a while but heres some progress. got pretty much all the parts just need to finish up some odds and ends bodywork and should be ready to get into some other projects. engine is being built ended up going with a 5.3 and boring it out to a 5.7 with Callie rods and custom wiseco pistons. will be a pump gas cruiser with the Procharger D1SC around 10-12psi.
also got all of the accuair cvt with elevel mocked up just need to run some hardline for everything before i blast and clean up the frame.
