What diameter is that pipe? Does the diameter vary if you have V8 BB or SB or I6 engine?

Hmm. VERY temped! That would go with my NOS muffler I have pretty nice.

I'll get back to you.

To help confirm what these pipes are for, I tried to find this part number. I have not found it yet.

I have found part numbers all around this part number (one and two digits on either side) but have not found it for our trucks.

I have just looked twice through the 1946-1972 Chevrolet Chassis and Body Parts catolog for 1/2 thru 1 ton trucks, series 10-20-30. My book is part 72 TL effective May 1979.

I looked at the numbers for tail pipes and just for grins, I also checked numbers for the exhaust manifold to muffler pipe. Lots of those part numbers are very close to this one.

Is there any chance this is a part that is not for us? Or is it just that my 1979 book doeesn't contain some cross reference (or I missed it) to it.

I might have missed seeing it, but it sure looks like it isn't in the parts book.

It always pays to no someone in the parts department. I just bought a 350 crate motor for $1000. Someone had ordered it and returned it. The dealer was unable to send it back, so they got stuck with it. Lucky me.

Sorry If my post came across wrong PTS 70. No challenge, criticism or doubt intended in any way. Your finding and sharing info on the pipes is what we are all about. Thank you.

All I was trying to do was help with more information on their application.

Where I got the info from I tried to share in my first post specifically. I just received the parts book I refer to yesterday. I had heard of it for 10 years and never seen one and finally bought it on ebay. I was happy to have a first use for it when I looked up the pipes. It is the book that Chevy published for use at the dealer parts counters as I understand it. You can see what the book is at:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2450236559

When I didn't find the part number I wasn't tyring to say your info is wrong, just that I had tried to help confirm and add to it, and where I had looked specifically and that I might have missed it but I tried.

I meant no disrespect or anything negative. Thanks for understanding. I love the info and spirit of this site and really appreaciate all of you who are part of it. I'm new last month.
