Thanks Mike and thanks for the pics from LST. One of these years I need to go there, I spent all weekend drooling over all the beautiful trucks on IG.

Besides the expense of it is the labor and the time it takes to complete, I wasted over 2 years on my last truck trying to make sure the bodywork was perfect and then I was going to paint it myself. I could have been driving the truck and enjoying it before I had to sell it.

Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside

I know that you don't need my advise but this is one of those projects seen that looks great on the build up with the patina and stance, no paint job is necessary for now, why spend the time and money to paint something that most is trying to achieve.
New paint on the inside maybe.
This is NOW and going to be badass when done.

Thanks man, I appreciate your opinion and agree 100%. I was taught a lesson with my last build that you never know what is going to happen day by day so I'm not going to waste time worrying about bodywork and paint. I just want to be able to drive the truck, problem is I still have a ton of work left to do and a lot of cash to put in it to get it driveable

Re: Project "Redemption" 68 SWB Fleetside

I'm in the same boat with my project "orangepeel" a 52 A.D. truck that I have been working on for A LONG time.
I build car's/trucks for a living and can never find time or space for my own stuff. The plan was to just leave the body as is and get it running and life got in the way
Best of luck to you on your's! Just think...you will be able to take the baby for a ride soon!!

Mark.

Thanks Mark, I'm hoping I can at least have it on the road by the time he is 2 or 3

Are you sticking with the 68 front end? Or does it depend on what you find in 507 to match?

I'm staying with the 68 front end, in going to try my hand at doing a fauxtina job on the front clip and bed to match the cab. We'll see how it goes

Nice. Well the good thing about fauxtina is that it doesn't need to be perfect! I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I've decided to add lower trim since all of my rust repair is below the lower trim line. This will make it a bit easier to blend the new and old paint since the trim will divide it.

How's that knee feeling?

I know they do really nice work, but that's a little out of my price range, especially with the little guy coming in 3 months. I'm confident I can make it look decent.

Your right, it doesn't have to be perfect, just close enough. Good choice adding the lower trim, I think it just looks right on 69-72's. My knee feels pretty good, just trying to follow doctors orders by not kneeling on it yet or squatting beyond 90 degrees. Going light in the gym too , I'm not looking to reinjure it.

Not even close. I haven't worked on it in a couple of weeks, currently I'm doing some renovations to the house before the baby comes.

I hear you Keith, I had to sell some of my toys to gather some funds. I just don't want to wait any longer... I plan on having them fix the cab rust and paint the firewall at least. Getting married, buying a house and kids really put my project on the back burner... Nate

I can't wait to see yours done! I can use it as inspiration to finish mine as I know it will be done way before my project is

Hey Keith! Sitting here at work on a Saturday and read thru the build. I hadn't seen it since page 2 or 3 and just seen the IG updates. Coming along nicely and congrats on your son! They sure make life funner. Mine is 6 now and maybe Ill finish the truck before he's 16.

PS I've had that cab lifter in my ABTM cart for months, might make the plunge now after seeing how much it helped you out.

Good to hear from you Russ. Just a few changes since you last checked in, I got a new cab which cuts down on my rust work by about 99% which means the truck will now be Blue. Kind of always wanted a Light Blue C10. Oh and the fiasco with the wheels but lets not get into that as I'm still bothered by that ordeal.

Life is going to change some with the little guy coming, but I couldn't be happier about it and can't wait for him to get here. May take me 5 years to finish the truck now but I'm good with that At least the little guy can cruise with me in the truck when its done. I highly recommend the cab lifter, especially if you plan on taking the cab on and off a lot like I am. It makes for a one person job.

Nothing like cruising with your little buddy or princess. Check out my Instagram there is a video of me and my son rolling into the local street rod show. He was my shadow the entire weekend. Except, when he was running around buying fair food..

Also, on my Instgram account there is a picture of my buddy's 62 C10 that was painted with latex house paint. It funny he has about 300-400 in paint and body, people go crazy for his truck at shows.

No progress on the truck. I've spent the last few months completing some home improvement projects in preparation of the little guy coming next month. I don't anticipate getting much done this year, maybe in 2018

Keith what do you plan on doing interior wise? Are you sticking with the blue factory theme?

I'm going with all 507 light blue with some medium blue here and there. It gets tricky to determine the shade of blues from pictures so it's difficult to find parts.

I'm probably going to stick as close to I can with 507 light blue. I really want everything to match, but I know it gets hard cause aftermarket parts seem to have different colors from one part to the next! I'll probably just die everything the same color so it all matches!
