Re: 1967 short fleet rescue

I could complain about the spray bomb, but honestly, how many guys did that 30-40 years ago on these trucks? A lot.
My point is it's still a lot of work. Looks good to me.

My only gripe is: why powerglide? Actually, For some reason I have found that 3-on-the-tree transmissions are very easy to find still in the truck....
But if you need a spare to put into a project like yours, they're nowhere to be found...

Have a great day and enjoy that truck, we all know they're becoming more uncommon.

And adding special touches such as 67 only knobs, and lots of other things that we'll never even know about.... awesome!
Every truck taken out of a barn/field/backyard and put on the road deserves that award.

Re: 1967 short fleet rescue

Why the Glide? Not long after I got the body home, I met a guy who had a 67 truck that he was doing a major modified restoration on. He sold me the rolling frame with a perfect running L6 and Powerglide - even had these hubcaps still on it. As much as I like to keep them original, this was a good opportunity to get a year correct optional transmission with crossmember, linkage and kick down rod. Before I dropped it in, I pulled the cab so I could properly remove the manual crossmember rivets.

Going I6/PG gives a driving feel like no other, same as 3 on the tree. It's a bygone feel and sound. So mild and easy going, smooth. Nothing about it screams performance, but there is more to this than just that. The truck is pieced back together into what you would have had in '67. A common truck and a pleasure to drive.

The work on the tailgate came out great.

You did a really nice job bringing that one back to life! Reminds me a lot of my old green truck. Keep us posted on updates.

Yes sir! Those ol' black steelies and white walls look like they found a great home!

p.s. I'm expecting to see that little jewel this summer on The Square.
