Need help on hood hinges

I just joined the group the other day and really enjoy reading the input and comments from so many enthusiasts. What I need is some advice / guidance on how to safely / correctly remove and eventually reinstall hood springs (and hood) on my '65 stepside' project.

Current status: the frame (I picked up a '64' frame.) has been sand blasted and painted. I have all of the parts to completey rebuild the rearend with seals and new brakes & cables. The doors are off and body work done on them. Rear fenders have all the welding done, but I need to do the finish work. Next I need to get the hood off so I can dismantle the front end.

Thanks in advance to any and all who send along helpful information.

Re: Need help on hood hinges

My thanks to the very timely response from 'markeb01' which gave me great initial direction to other threads (same topic). And also my thanks to 'TR65' for his earlier posting regarding the build of a GM Tool (home knock-off or HKO) that was displayed in the GM Shop Manual. I have been thinking about building such a tool using 2" EMT and welding tabs on the ends to insert into the springs.

I really appreciate the help guys.

Lastly, I will post some pictures of my project in the next few days.
