Longhorn Man - 68 LH For Sale in Ohio

Andy,
Noticed in this month's Hemmings there is a longhorn for sale in Ohio. The listing states: 1968 longhorn, 327 engine, factory air, CST pkg, rare, restorable, good running, $1,900. (330) 544-0242. (Notice it doesn't say anything about rust!)

Hmmm, any locals out there able to look at it? Digi pics maybe?

I know its a long shot, but I always think of the 50th as soon as I hear "68 Longhorn"...probably just me, but it's OK to dream.
Only 1902 3/4 tons and 213 one tons made in 68. A CST with a 327 and A/C too.
Oh well...not that I can buy it.

Awsome.
My bet is that it is a total rust bucket. They say "restorable"...which we all know means total turd. That word just gives a spark of hope in the back of one's mind.

Longhorn

I think it's the one that has been at the canfield swapmeet the last few years. It's white. I think the guy lives near youngstown. He doesn't seem to want to budge off of the price. It's about a $1200-1500 truck in my opinion (maybe even slightly less). I guess it's how bad you wanted it. If you have any more questions about it, I can try to remember some more particulars about it. Brian

Niles is by Y-Town, so its probably the truck you guys are talking about. That sucks that it has rust above the windshield. Burnsman, do you know off the top of your head what kind of options it has? besides the ones listed, of course. i havent called the # yet, but I'd still like to go check it out.

Question

I thought the Longhorn wasn't introduced until '69. Sales brochure states "new for '69, made especially for campers" or something like that. ??

They were made in '68, and, as you can see, are probably the rarest "year" of longhorn made. the longhorn emblem is above the rear marker light instead of to the left of it in '68.

Jason, funny, i don't remember this at all.
Hmmmm, then again I would forget my address if it wasn't for my drivers license in my wallet.
Oh crap, where's my wallet?!?!

MrGoodpliers, most factory literature will tell you tha 69 is the first year, but it is wrong. March 11th of 68 was the first Longhorn produced. Check out my longhorn web site for more info.
And yes, the 68 one ton is the lowest production of all 25,442 longhorns made. (This does not include the GMC version)

truck

Yep, you guys are right. It has been there for a few years now. It has tempted me a few times, but the price just hasn't been there.
