Removing upper Panhard bar bolt

I could not get the upper bolt to budge last night. I got the nut off, but the bolt will not back out at all. Does anyone have any suggestions or tricks?

LOTS OF PENETRAITING OIL (LIKE P B BLASTER) & A LONG BREAKER BAR. I'VE FOUND A LITTLE WELL PLACED HEAT HELPS TO REMOVE A NUT THAT HAS BEEN IN PLACE FOR OVER 35 YEARS. JOHN

Re: Removing upper Panhard bar bolt

I have the nut off and the bolt spins but it looks like it is stuck inside where it goes through the bar end.

Re: Removing upper Panhard bar bolt

try a C-clamp and a socket to press it out

I used an acetelene torch to heat the head and the thread end red hot, then whacked it good with a hammer and a punch, came right out then. I had tried everthing else and it didn't work. I also had the box off at that time so if you do that with the box on be careful.

I second that!

Try putting the nut back on so you don't damage the threads and whack it good, or just beat the h@LL out of it and get a new nut & bolt.

Re: Removing upper Panhard bar bolt

I had to hacksaw the bolt out, it was frozen in the inside sleeve of the bushing. I cut both sides of the bolt inside the bracket, was very tedious to do, not much room for a hacksaw, BFH wold not even budge mine, just smashed the end of the bolt

Mine was the same. The steel bushing was rusted solid to the bolt. I even tried an air-hammer to no avail. I finally put a cutoff wheel in the angle grinder and used that the cut the bolt.

Re: Removing upper Panhard bar bolt

My frame was on jackstands when I tried to get the bolt out and when I used a BFH it just moved the whole frame.

What finally worked for me was just spinning an impact for about 30 seconds. The bolt spung freely before but didn't want to be pushed out. If I cut the head off the shaft still would have been stuck

Re: Removing upper Panhard bar bolt

Cutoff wheel and sawsall got mine off. BFH wouldn't work for mine or heat or pbblaster.
