help diagnosing starter issue.
The starter takes a while to engage or crank the engine. It does nothing at first then starts cranking the engine. Once it starts cranking, sometimes it'll stop then start again on its own.
The truck had been sitting for some years. When I first started working on it, there was only a slight delay. Now I have to wait a few seconds. Not sure if it's the battery. Its the one from my civic. The battery works fine in the car and has 12.4 volts. So I had my wife turn the key to start while I placed a probe on the purple wire on the starter. It didn't light up until about 4 seconds after, at which point it started cranking. |
