Thanks.. I am excited to get it painted finally. This is going to be a milestone. This past weekend I installed the hood with hinges, before it was just sitting on the fenders.

Thanks... You will. It's nice to take a breather. I found myself getting burnt out. I am glad to be back on it.

The brand is "Key Parts". They fit pretty good. I did have to clean up the threaded holes with a tap. Everything went together good. The door alignment was the most work. I wish I didn't have to pull them back off for paint.

Drill a small pilot hole on the door hinges and use them to realign the doors for assembly...

Where did you get the parts. I was thinking of buying new inner fenders...

Also, whos doing the paint?

Great idea on the hinges. I purchased my front end parts from Tuckers here in Vegas (no shipping).

My painter is a friend that does only custom work.

Here are a few pictures of my fuel tank that I am modifying for the fuel injection system. I cut the end off to install a baffle. Also added a filler neck. The tank came out of my buddie's old boat. I couldn't believe the dimensions were perfect to fit in the rear of my frame rails.

Welding the new filler neck.

Sorry for no updates lately. I didn't want to show you guys the pictures of the spider webs accumulating on my ride. My two beautiful teenage kids and Their sports have been taking my time and money. I have held off on painting the truck in search of 2 original fenders. I will keep you guys updated and Thank You for following my now 3 year long build.

I can totally relate to that. I have two kids too. I have followed all their sports too. I have been on mine three years too now.
I agree with you on the original fenders. That's the only way to go man.
I'm making an attempt to use all GM sheetmetal on my project. What a pain.

Your 100% right. Lesson learned. The aftermarket sheet metal isn't the same. I haven't come this far to make the most noticeable thing (body) be my biggest mistake. If the paint and body don't come out near perfect It would be even harder to finish the build. I am hoping the original fenders will help align the front clip. Right now the body lines don't match the doors and I am not happy with it. If I have to replace all of the aftermarket sheet metal with original then that's what I'm doing. Almost wishing I stuck with the GMC clip but still love the slant noses. Good luck on your build and looking forward to seeing it complete.

Re: Started my first frame off - 72 SWB LS1, 6-spd manual

Great News! After months of looking I found a complete rust free front clip off a 67. Came complete with core support and inner fenders. The guy also through in 4 doors with all of the glass. Now I can get back to work. I will keep you all updated with photos.
