Filler neck grommet install

Can the filler neck rubber grommet be installed without removing tank.

I think that's the only way to install it.
When I did mine I just slid it over the filler neck with a little dish soap.
Then Tucked the ridge into the body with screwdriver carefully not to scratch the paint.

Takes less than 1 minute to install with tank in place. Absolutely no reason whatsoever to remove the tank.

Yup, I installed mine real easily.
No lube used.

I replaced mine almost as soon as i bought my truck. Since this was the first one i ever installed , It did take me about 30-40 minutes to install since i was trying to be extra careful and not mess my paint up.

Use a couple Tounge Depressors to work around the edge, with out harming your finish

I bought one from classic truck parts and that think dry rotted in a year

got two of them there. one for my 72 and one for 71. both dry rotted by the end of summer. sending unit float filled with gas in a week, cab mount hardware grade 3 with nuts pressed on stud for a bolt. mmmm
