Here is a truck that I have that has plaid trim but it does not mention any highlander package.

So what is the trim code and does it have a YG6, 7 or 8 code as well denoting a Promo Package truck?
If you want Highlander information in general just site search ""ss tim" highlander" there is a lot out there.

Only very general production numbers (basically by model) are released and rife with typos. As far as breaking down trim levels or option content its not there.

It is a Highlander! Like I mentioned above in a couple of places, the trim code is the key. The 613 code is for the Avocado Plaid Highlander special trim combination. Many SPIDs carry Plaid in the trim description but omit Highlander.

If you compare your SPID to Dirt's72's posted #17 you can see that even though they are both St Louis built trucks they are almost 65,000 units apart and St Louis had lots of running SPID variations.

Soon... I'm really bad about "soon" myself. Any progress on the pictures there of the truck and SPID? Is it a SWB 167559 by chance (another found Highlander from last year)? :-)

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Just checked and I do have a '72 Highlander. Was originally the 618 orange, now has the black and white houndstooth. Big block, TH400, Black dash pad, white door panels, black carpet, tilt steering.

I had it repainted the correct red/orange and white several years ago and never drove it. A couple of years later I had the whole top end of the motor rebuilt, and again never drove it. It has been sitting under a shed for several years and is sitting on 4 flat tires and the carb needs work. Needs a lot of elbow grease, but has no rot at all. I would be willing to part with it if someone made the right offer.

Great to hear! That is the intent of these threads. To uncover unknown or forgotten Highlanders and showcase the known trucks with pictures and details for everyone. Please consider posting up the SPID.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

So I believe my 72 truck is a "Highlander". Blue and white. black carpet, column and dash. Long bed. Blue Plaid interior which I believe is original. My build sheet/sticker in glove box only reads "611 BLUE PLAID BENCH".
???

No Doubt there! The 611 code (blue plaid) gets you in the Highlander club.
The SPID (glove box door) should also show you as having Z62 Custom Deluxe trim that the Highlander Plaid was an upgrade to.
Be nice to see pictures of the truck and SPID. Its not by chance a Tarrytown NY built truck is it? Vin code "T" in the seventh position.

It is "Custom Deluxe Trim" and an Atlanta built truck. I emailed you pics.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Here's the SPID from one that I missed by a day and the buyer wanted to double his money, too much for what it was so it's fate is out of my hands. I didn't get a pic of the truck but it is original paint, nice cab but otherwise beat.

Here's the SPID, which is all that's left of a well optioned Highlander.
