Hello all! Help? Bought a '69 without an engine, got a 350 in, but...

I just have a few questions. I've never taken on a project this big! I've only ever done oil changes, bolt-on replacements, etc... It's coming along, though. I did it totally alone!

There it is. Got it for next to nothing.

That tube on the power brake booster...where does it go? It's just sitting there loose. Also, my old alternator bracket had a hole for connecting the battery negative cable to it. The replacement I got does not...where should I connect the negative lead from the battery if not there?

My power steering bracket is just not lining up at all. Is there a trick? Spacers? I'm at a loss on what would get this right.

Thanks for any help, I look forward to getting this truck back on the road and helping any others, I've learned a lot with this project

I have resized your pics so they display correctly...

Brake booster hose goes to a fitting on back of carb or manifold that has access to full engine vacuum.

Ground battery cable..."negative lead" goes to any clean, engine accessory bolt hole point suitable and close enough for the cable to reach...

the ground system is essential on these older trucks...

The cab should be grounded to the chassis.
The chassis to the bed.
The engine to the chassis.
Radiator support to the chassis.
Have fun...good looking truck....stick to it...

BTW...You will need a fan shroud on that truck...

the power steering bracket is for a stock exhaust manifold. try a longer bolt and make a spacer of appropriate length and suitable material. black pipe.

Welcome! That's a great start.

In pic #3, it looks like that upper bolt holding the power steering pump to the head should have a spacer in there. It's like a really thick washer, around 3/8" iirc. There are 1 or 2 more required on other bolts not shown in that pic. You need them in there to secure the pump and align the belt properly.

Hopefully someone will have a pic of the parts and where they go.

Welcome to the best site around for our trucks! Looks like a fun rig to start wrenching on. Ask all the questions you want, and post some more pics!
