So, if a rig doesn't have the roof bumps, but you want to install them anyway, is that considered taboo? I'm not talking about resale. I just think they would look nice.

They replace that part of roof for rust issues no one says a word . standard cab light roof not In vin. Just rare

You can pretty much do anything you want to your truck ... Usually ... but according to popular consensus (not every single last member) you are not allowed to chop the top, and the biggest sin of all is to cut your dash for better radio fitment. Pretty much have to turn in your man/truck card if you do either of those.

I've noticed! I'd like a modern radio too, but until I get someone else to cut the dash, I'll live with the AM. I've seen lots of pics of others that were done very nice. I'm confident that should I give it a whirl, good intentions aside it will look like I cut the dash with a chainsaw.
There is a league of "Keep it stock" purists on this board that the force is strong with them. Nothing wrong with that. Kind of like asking a dry fly fisherman to throw out a worm and a bobber. Teeth Gnashing!

There are quite a few options for modern sound without cutting your dash. Retro Sound is one of them - https://www.retromanufacturing.com/. There are others also that I can't think of off the top of my head right now. Other members will chime in.

There are several options like you said. Just not ready to throw that kind of money at that yet. Everytime I turn around, something else wears out. Now it's a new tail light system. The sockets are so worn out, even wrapping the lamp ends with tin foil I can't keep them tight enough to keep connection. One thing after another. I had it fixed yesterday, worked this morning in the driveway, get to work and one quits again. I've cleaned, sanded and installed 13 ground wires. Every light. Those tail light buckets are wore out.

The hoor lights in the cab roofs w/ the bumps are obviously factory. Others have the long lights that may have been dealer installed? Mine has the latter and its a K10, but its a frankentruck w/ a DMV VIN. I should check the cab VIN.

I have a 67 K10 that someone along the line added the Yankee 77's to. The wiring didn't look so good when I took them off to clean them up, so I don't think a dealer installed them. I believe the Assembly Manual has the measurements for installing this type, but I have not confirmed that the holes were drilled in the "factory" correct locations.

Also, are the rubber bases the same between the hockey pucks and the fireman's hats?

I bought a set of repro fireman's hat lights and gaskets off of Amazon. They look really nice and the orange is almost perfect.

I just did an Amazon search for cab lights and came up with several options.

I can post the P/N in the morning. I don't know the year/models.

I think the bases are the same but the only roof I have is the hockey puck one.

I think cab roof lights are good, better than "daytime running lights." Those things are silly and cause people to drive a night with no taillights.

The only markings I can find other than the "HD - Made In USA" logo is "HD-1 SAE DP 85 DOT PM"

Turned out to be a case of mistaken identity. The cab was from a 67 C50! I didn't look at it that close when I saw it the first time. Most of the parts have been stripped and it has 1967 written on the firewall. Sorry for the false alarm.

The roof would be the same as a pickup. All he would have to use is from the rear seam forward....
