Re: What i thought was the start of my 63 lwb build

I thought the blazer tank had the hump in the middle? Kinda looks like the one they have at LMC but can't tell for sure.

Re: What i thought was the start of my 63 lwb build

SOOOO SOOO SOOOO not impressed with LMC right now. Inner fenders (wells) are welded incorrectly so that they leave huge gap between the firewall and the well...aswell as mount the fender to far forward so that the holes dont even remotely line up!

Im gonna have to cut the fender support take out about an inch and weld it back together...BULL CRAP!

Re: What i thought was the start of my 63 lwb build

Well all in all you did get free shipping on the ill fitting parts. I can't blame you for being pissed/mad I forgot pissed means drunk up there. Well I'd be interested in what LMC said about the ill fitting parts or did they just shine you on? If they did there's not much you can do except put a complaint on this board and every other board or forums out there and that will get there attention real quick. If that's the case go for the throat.---Vernski

Re: What i thought was the start of my 63 lwb build

The fenderwells i will just fix. I might whine and complain on here but I cant be bothered to call them and try and get money back or exchange. Seems to me all the parts suppliers get these things from the same asian source so what are the chances of doing better next time anyway.

Got somw more work done...and as requested took a few more pics of the tank(which did fit nicely)

Painted Dash Interior and Column

Done a bit more. Like Glove compartment + door panels. Finished column install w/powersteering connected, brake booster bolted up and pedal connected. Half way through Shifter fitting precarpet.

On the list to finish soon. Attach last few brake lines and hoses and bleed system, Rebelwire wiring harness in the mail to install when it gets here. Engine should be ready to run when thats done. Fix/fill/pain inside of doors. Install rubbers/windshield and carpet. Fix fenderwells from LMC install sheetmetal all arround and drive it while occassionally stopping in to do body work panel by panel.

I have 10 days til my self set goal time to get out of our company shop for winter. OI

Re: What i thought was the start of my 63 lwb build

Installed column and conected steering rag joint and shaft. Decinded to use the slipping piece and rag joint from the doner truck and weld/Bolt it to the 63 shaft. I think it worked well.

Also FINALLY finished the brakelines pro-valve booster/cylinder pedal install (whole system)

Now just have to rework a few body panels and put it all back together.

Can i do that in a week? HAHAHA

Sorry still crap cell phone pics but really its the lighting in that shop...its depressing...ill get some good pics when i start being able to run it in and out.

Interior work

Re: What i thought was the start of my 63 lwb build

Jory, There is supposed to be a rubber seal that goes between the inner fender and the firewall and also where the fender meets the firewall on the front side. That will fill some of the gap.

Ive been looking at stealing the seals of the old fenders but they are in pretty ruff shape...Regardless tho there is still way to much a of a gap there...

Re: What i thought was the start of my 63 lwb build

Im planning on puting the carpet in tonight (molded from LMC) do you generally glue them down or do they just lay in nicely....I cant imagine them staying perfectly. I have the sil plates that go down but how about by the kick panel. If anyne has expirence with this let me know what you did and pics would be cool too.

Jory

Also door rubbers ive heard you should put them in close the doors and rachet strap them nice and tight to break in the rubbers. True?

Re: What i thought was the start of my 63 lwb build

UPDATE

Wiring Harness connected Everything working. (THAT SUCKED)

Window guys brought window and installed with LMC rubber. Rubber very poor quality very bad fit and basically no seal. Channels for window and pich weld way to wide plus rubber wasnt very sturdy...(fricken LMC) Door guys order better rubber 110 bucks holy crap. They come back to reinstall the windshield and they bust it. NICE! so i wait for however long it takes them to find me a new window. There arent very many of these in canada.

Only a few little projects left and ill be on the road
-transmission cooler and lines
-Engine start up (fingers crossed)
-Reinstall box
-fix/recover seat
-ROCK AND ROLL

Jory

DONT JUDGE ME!

I HATE WIRING!

Thought you guys would like this Original Badge from the deal (sold new where I live I even know they guy that owned the dealship) Dont know where this truck has been for the last 46 years but i know where it came from.

Re: What i thought was the start of my 63 lwb build

Well i've taken her out for a few spins and this last time it died and would start again. Seems like it might be a fuel and or electrical problem.

Can anyone tell me if it makes sense that my gernerator light would be on for 10-30 seconds after start up at idle. If i rev it up right away it'll go away but if it idles down the lights dim and it comes on again. It should chrage still even at an idle shouldnt it. I dont quite get it. Also my brake lights seem to be wired to only work if the truck is running ie of of the alternator. Doesnt seem right to me either.

Along with this problem i've found that i have a busted tooth on my ring gear and when it lands just right it will grind and not turn over. It doesn look like the rest of the ring gear is getting chewed up but being i havent been driving it and starting it everyday It might progress later on.

Anyway when it died oon my i was sooo mad i drug it back behind our shop and decided i wouldnt even touch it till after christmas. My wife is fed up with me being gone all the time, ive spent way more money on it then i ever intended and im really not enjoying working on it anymore at this point so im gonna take a break.

Now thta its outside i could help takin a picture of it...i cant help but think its soooo cool.

Anyway, opinions and help on what might be my issues on the wiring end and or how bad it really is to have a ring gear with a broken tooth would be really helpfull.

Jory

Re: What i thought was the start of my 63 lwb build

Sounds to me like you have a bad alternator, or else it isn't wired up correctly. That starter ring gear is likely to cause you grief later on. It shouldn't be too bad to drop the trans and change it. I have no idea on the brake lights, other than you don't have constant power to them as there should be.

Re: What i thought was the start of my 63 lwb build

Hey Guys,

Havent posted in a while but also havent worked on the truck in a while...

Thought i would get this thread moved to the projects and builds section and the name changed to "roadhammers build thread" or something of that nature...That would be much appreciated.

I needed a daily driver being that this truck doesnt seem to be the right method to my madness so i bought a 1993 furd f150 4x4 for 1800 bucks. It gets me back and forth to work and starts every morning without fail so it works.
Now i own a ford/dodge/chevy....dont tell me i dont buy north american. LOL

time to get this thing on the road

Well it's been a few years and 3 kids later. I've been staring at the old beast and I've move it a few times. I've always wished I would have time and money to get back at it but had pretty much written it off as a I'll never get to it thing.

Now it's time. I dropped it off at a shop in town and told them to get the thing on the road. I can wait for it to be done and take it for a drive.

Not doing body work or anything cosmetic but we are gonna see if we can have some fun driving her around.

New 12 bolt rear end going in as well as 3 inch drop spindles, new callipers, booster, proportions get valve and exhaust.

Hopefully she will be roadworth after that we'll see.

Nice to see you back at it again.
Did you buy that truck off a Kijiji ad? The pictures beside the big truck look familiar.
