W/B....if you plan on lowering the truck your panhard bar can hit some of those big aluminium differential covers. My 'burb is bagged and the bar is right against the pumpkin when all down. Just a heads up.

That pressure washer looked killer.

yea we want to lower it maybe a while down the road but for now we are just ganna keep it the way its sits. I did put a 1 inch lower spring in the front but that just b/c they were half as much as the stock, so i got new springs and a lil rake to it. and for the power washer, yea it was awesome.

I should be getting my frame back from my uncles this weekend then i will spray it with some of the hammered paint.

Yea it should be good. I went back and forth between the rustoleom version and the hammerite version, and after reading up on both i ended up going with rustoleom. I work at home depot so i look at the stuff everyday. I know its good stuff plus with that epoxy primer my uncles coating it with it should be solid.

Re: 66 c10 first timer build

I was planning on putting a 700r4 behind it. I have been reading alot of other posts about them and it seems there kinda a hassle or easy to mess up install and burn it up. anybody have any pointers. I will be installing it and its my first time so any suggestions would be awesome.

700r4s are awesome as long as you get the tv cable set right and don't over horsepower them. There is nothing like rolling down the interstate at 75 or 80 in overdrive turning 200o rpm.

Ok. so i plan on getting the tranny from monster trans, im sure i need to by the tv cable seperatly and then there is a bracket or two i will need to put on my holley carb. Does all that sound right? i watched a few youtube videos on it. also im wanting the lokar shifter, you wouldnt happen to know if there is an od on the shifter or does it just go into od once you are cruisen at a certain speed? Sorry bout the dumb question newby here

That grill looks a little rough. I would pass unless you are good with metal work, or are willing to pay to have it repaired. One thing though, those original aluminum grills are hard to find.

gearstar- they build your tranny to your truck--horsepower, gear ratio, tire diameter.etc. and have a 3 year warranty. everthing comes withit--cooler,lock up,cable, torque converter etc.

thanks for the info, i checked them out and called to get pricing on my specs and they say it would run me about 2200, ouch!! dont know if i could do that, if i did that would set the project back a while longer.

Theres come with the torq converter and i actually already have a new on i bought when i bought the motor.

is there any other good trans places that sell quality stuff for a bit less?

Are you part of a local car club by chance?
I almost always join one as soon as I move because I like to show my Tempest, but the reason I ask is because I do a lot of "word of mouth" shopping. When I am in a gathering of all those old timers I ask who they think is the best for ________(whatever it is I am needing at the time) and when I get 4-5 or more replies with the same name it is usually a pretty fair bet I am getting the best the local area has to offer.
I seriously took a day off work to haul my OHC-6 motor 120 miles because everyone said that Raymond Kittler in Shereveport was the best around.
I was very happy with what I got.

Anyways, longwinded, but perhaps that is an idea for you....??

Re: 66 c10 first timer build

The 700R4's are typically more expensive for a good rebuild than say a TH350. Especially once you need them upgraded for a non-stock engine. I agree on trying to find a good local trans shop, or maybe someone that does them on the side at home.

Re: 66 c10 first timer build

so when im calling around is there a diff trans i should be asking about or is the 700r4 the one that i want, like i said, new to all this so if there is somethin i should now, like maybe a diff trans please help me out. thanks guys.

O and as far as the frame goes i should be getting it soon, i know ive said that a few times its just the weather here has sucked and the frame is out side so it only gets attention when the weather is nice. so hopefully soon it will be back in my possession.
