Well....

progress ?

(NOTE: I did an entire write-up on mating a 4L60e to 5.3L.. figure I'm due to give back vs. just asking questions..... it can be found here: How to mate a GM Auto Transmission to Engine

By myself... cherry picker with load leveler for nose height and roll/yaw... and floor jack with a mount hole to the tail shaft for pitch...

Re: Project 1966 C-10 LSx

I'm glad I found this prodject. Recently cosidering pulling 06 vortec max 6.0 and trans for install in a 72. Have both trucks so have all the parts. Not sure which way to go, engine and trans swap, or 06 chassis under 72 body? Any opinions?

It would be smoking cool if it were really wood.... Hmmm now there is an idea....
I was thinking the exact same thing. That really doesn't look too bad.. Nothing beats the stock gauge look in my opinion though.

I like those new style frame mounts from CPP. Can't find them online though. Do you have a part number for them?

6372SM-P

you can't find them on the CPP website.... only on ebay.

the only thing i ordered from them... and it was on Ebay. the CPP crossmember I bought from summit (and paid I think 3 or 4 bucks more to do so.. but didn't have to deal with the headache that comes dealing directly with CPP.) The Dirty Dingo mounts I thought were better in construction than the CPP sliders by looking at them I at least though. (# of slider bolts). Was very happy with the fitment and construction of the dingo sliders.

The poly engine mounts were 'interesting' to wrestle with. but no avail..its in.. and energy suspension makes good stuff....

Will be using a Aeromotive Stealth 340 in-tank pump into a corvette regulator/filter combo...
The pump comes with the Boyd Welding Tank...

Re: Project 1966 C-10 LSx

Got some goodies in and some tasks crossed off....

Enjoy!

Doug Thorley 324-y headers for a 67-72 LS swap
I went with these due to the exit angle vs. the 322-y (1-7/8 primaries) or the 323-y (67-72 1-7/8 primaries) which both sets exit at a down toward the ground angle almost like a shorty.... the 324-y's (1-5/8" primaries only) exit straight out the back.. above the rear of the frame rail.. and will be able to go straight out and over my trans x-member and right thru my trailing arm member (after I hole saw/reinforce it)

TACKED TEST FIT

Yup....the 1966 should perform exaclty as my 2012 5.3L in regard to capabilities of daily driver reliability status when its all said and done.
EFI, Overdrive 4L60e, DBW, good MPG (pending how heavy my right shoe is that day).... will also have 2005 front 40/40/20 front bench/center console jump.

(Still will have steering/brakes suspension for next year to upgrade)

Shifts P-R-N-OD-D-2-1 great!

Also got the ECM mock mounted too....

Nice! How much did they set you back? How are you going to mount up the center console with those odd angled brackets?
