Shifter question

Has anyone put one of the bench seat lokar shifters in their truck? I have a th400 in my 69 and am needing to know how the fit is and if the cable or the rod linkage was used.

I have one for my '70 Shortie but I haven't installed it yet. I am going with the rod linkage.

Re: Shifter question

I'm putting a cable operated Lokar shifter in my '68 right now. I'm guessing you are talking about the bench bend lever for yours. Mine is a single bend, 8 inches in length. The nice thing about the cable shifter is the latitude in placement, so I didn't really need to worry about interference of the lever with the seat. So far the install is going well. There are a couple of pics on the last two pages of what did you do to your truck today thread.

Re: Shifter question

I did a Rod shift linkage unit in my 68 and doing rods again in both of my 67's. I like the feel of the rod over the cable for my applications.

I am using the 23" dual bend as I wanted it a bit higher / closer to the dash. The adjustments are pretty endless so I can tilt it any way I need using the brackets that came with it. Very very happy

Here is a pic after installation.

On that setup it was closet to 6 inches or more. You can change it move closer to the seat and away from the dash. It is all in how you set up the bolts on the mount.

Ah ok, looks like it won't hit the seat when in low gear either?

Did you use the cable or linkage for the trans? I have a linkage setup coming for mine.

Edit: Oops just noticed you said yours was linkage. Looks good.
