I know that 69-70 and 71-72 bucket seats are different. I believe the foam and therefore the seat covers are different.

Are the brackets and frame the same? Can I buy a set of 69 seats put 72 foam and covers on them and have them be correct?

Also, is the only difference between Blazer buckets and truck buckets the passenger side mounting brackets?

The seat tracks are the same for the 69-72s. The Blazer buckets have a hard plastic back and truck buckets do not. WES

You are on the right path Bill72. Everything you said is accurate. Blazer passenger side brackets are different than trucks. 69-70 foam is different than 71-72. The only difference in blazer seats, is the passenger seat brackets and they have the plastic backs like Wes has mentioned. They both take the same special reinforcement under the floor too. Trevor

Is that something that one would need to do if you orginally had a bench and wanted to go to buckets?

you could reinforce the floor by others means as well... My 68 had a bench but still had that bucket reinforcement under the cab.

Mike, wouldn't that be because of the buddy buckets? The 69-72 take a different reinforcement as far as I know. Trevor

Trevor- Do you have pictures of what needs to be done underneath and/or what the factory bracing looks like? I'm getting a truck in that has the incorrect buckets in it and want to go back to factory buckets. I'll need to identify if it was originally bench or buckets so any pics will help me know what I'm looking for.

From the factory, 69-72 buckets used these brackets for the seats. One long one(it is still attached to the floor section) like in the pics and 4 of the small brackets.

nope, buddy buckets mount just like a bench, except for that one single bracket in the middle.

Mine looked just like post #9... I have one if someone wants it, not in the best shape though

Atog has the front reinforcements reproduced and Roger Koop makes the rear reinforcements. They' both active in the forums. Put WTB in the parts for Sale forum if you want them.

On topic, it sure is odd that a '68 would have the 69-72 sport bucket brace. Must be one of the last '68s built or something.

To expand on this thread info, I wonder about the K/5 and Panel utility seats and if they use the same support. I believe it would need to be located further back due to those seat support brackets being longer. I suppose the single seat versions would have the same underside brace, or would those be unique? I know when the passenger seat option was not taken on a K/5 or panel the floor has no provision for mounting the front of the passenger seat bracket bolt. No hump stamped into the floor.

I went the fabrication route with mine. I used the slides from two bench seats and mounted them to the 70 Blazer buckets I have. If I remember right, I had to change out the rackets that mount the slide to the seat frame. The driver side works great as does the other, but I guess the only down side is the adjuster on the passenger side is inside facing the console. I just need to fab a little bracket for a release lever that i can reach from the front, but I have many other projects to do before that happens.

I first noticed a difference in the shape of the seat back in 2003. I mentioned it in a post, but it never went anywhere. Here's my observation:

I can see the seat back is slightly wider on some buckets as opposed to other style buckets where the seat back is more straight cut. I attached 2 different buckets to show the differences.

Saddle colored bucket seat is narrow
White bucket seat is wider.
