Electric Camaro Concept

From Fox News

The eCOPO Camaro Concept is a battery-powered drag racing special with 700 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque.

Its Borg Warner twin-motor pack was designed to be swapped in for a conventional engine and features the same bellhousing pattern as Chevy’s LS line of V8s, so it can bolt onto any transmission that works with one, including the standard COPO Camaro’s 3-speed.

At a recent NHRA test session the car, prepped by Hancock and Lane Racing, pulled a wheelie off the line on its way to a 9.837-second quarter-mile at 134.07 mph with only roar coming from the crowd.

Chevy doesn’t yet have plans to sell a turnkey eCOPO, but it is considering offering the electric setup as a crate motor someday.

I got plenty of room in my bed for batteries.

Re: Electric Camaro Concept

The concept & performance is extremely impressive, but I miss the traditional sound & feel of a door slammer drag car....call me old school, I guess

Re: Electric Camaro Concept

We'll soon have an eCOPO swap thread. The bed could be batteries and solar panels!

Re: Electric Camaro Concept

A friend of mine bought a new ZL1 1LE Trac Pac Camaro, 650HP and 650TQ. I'm supposed to get to drive it, I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high, I guess we'll see about that. I know the electric Camaro puts down a faster time..... but....the sound that supercharded 6.2 makes will stand up the hair on the back of my neck everytime. The day he bought it he ran it up to 176 mph and held it there for a solid 2-3 minutes on the interstate at 2 AM....(not the brightest individual) The car comes with a built in camera in the back of the rear view mirror and records on command, and he sent me the video. It reminded me of the 200 mph Hennessy Camaro video shot not too long ago. Telephone poles whipping by so fast its hard to count them.

I’ve got a late model Camaro, I hate the thought of the electric stuff taking over. All the Camaro boards were going crazy with this subject a few weeks ago. Idk I want the noise of a big cam and exhaust fumes myself. There’s another set of posts on the corvette forums saying that the next gen mid engine Vette and the next gen camaro are the last gm has planned to be gas powered... supposedly the mid engine vette is going to be an animal like we’ve never seen before. STUPID power is the only way I know how to explain it. Idk the world is going electric and I hate the thought of it.

Solar Panel hard toneau cover wouldn't have to "look bad" either, might not even notice it's there.
