Cruising the Heartland…E-Town KY

Pulling into the show today, and I nearly have a heart attack when I spot this beautiful 70 model. To say the least I’m partial to the color!! I pull up, and the Mrs jumps out to snap a few pics. We ended up squeezing together to park. The story on the truck is it was owned by a couple who used it for vacationing, and towed a boat with it. The husband tragically passed away, and the truck sat afterwards for some time until the current owner purchased it. To me personally it doesn’t get much better than these time capsules. I found it interesting that the color combination was not on the SPID. Was this common for an Atlanta truck? I hope you enjoy the pics as much as I did taking them.

Re: Cruising the Heartland…E-Town KY

It was a good day. Got to meet Tom Wopat which was pretty cool. Our first time going. Seemed like a good turnout, but honestly I couldn’t pull away much from that 70. Made a good friend with the owner, who was just as intrigued with my 72. Great day.

Re: Cruising the Heartland…E-Town KY

thanks for sharing the 70, it's gorgeous. wonder why no paint code on the SPID - it's painted the 70-only 573 code. But it does show the fee for the Special Two Tone on the invoice (and an errant CK vice CE on the VIN...). The topper is perfect!

That's a nicely optioned out '70 Custom. I like yours with only lower trim

Beautiful time capsule with an interesting color combo. Must not have seen much use, that original seat looks to be in great shape. Thanks for the pics.

Rotated the sideways pics.

X2! This is what we call cream puffs. Great to see they kept the dealer documentation on this one, confirms what Jocko called out.

Was actually referring to the 573 paint code comment by Jocko, sorry wasn't specific. Usually included on the SPID, but was left off for some reason by Atlanta assembly plant. Very nice to see the dealer invoice that shows the extra charge for the special color combo.

Re: Cruising the Heartland…E-Town KY

actually, the invoice only calls out special two tone, which means roof and below lower belt molding color matches - which would also be on the invoice for any truck that had a white roof and white below the lower belt molding. It is correct that the fee is documented for special two tone since 573 is a one year only special two tone, just non-white though. I am surprised to not see the paint code on the SPID and the invoice doesn't highlight the 573 combo anywhere - only that the truck has a special two tone scheme.
Was just a curiosity, certainly doesn't matter in the case of this truck, it's clearly original and there's just "missing" info, not contradictory info. You know me and SPIDs... sorry
