Hello all, I am new to this board I just purchased a 1970 Chevy C10 with a 454 and 12 bolt rear end. I would like to know what is the largest wheel and tire combo you can fit under a stock frame. I plan on putting 2" inch drop spindles on the front. I would like the truck to have that rake look to it. I'm thinking of staggering the wheels. Any ideas would greatly be appreciated.

Ar far as 15 inch goese be a couple of my freinds rnd 285-70-15 with no problem use to get them through BF Goodrich but now have to get them through Coker Tire there Silver streak series. Hope this helps

Fleetside or Stepside? 6 lug currently? What size rim, 15's? 22's? Larger wheels will ultimately impact the amount if tire sidewall, thus affecting how much backspacing you can run. Are you going to lower the back too?

We run this tire on both fleet and step with factory 8 inch truck ralleys

Agreed - 285/70/15 assuming you have 15" truck rallys.

I have a six lug wheel which I plan converting to 5 lug. I was thinking of 22's in the rear and 20's up front. Or 20's all the way around, I really dont want to ride on rubber bands I would like some decent size tires. I am going for the rake look. thanks

You may or may not know, there are two different lengths of rear axle for these trucks.

6-lug 55.5" = 67-69 (and some 1970 models)

5-lug 57" = 71-72 (and some 6-lug 1970 models)

These measurements are from backing plate to backing plate. You might want to measure your rear axle to be sure you know which one you have before ordering your wheels. You can usually get more tire under a fleetside than a stepside. Mine is a stepper and I'm running into the same thing myself. Is yours a fleet or step side?

I have a fleetside truck. I would also like to lower it, I read in one post someone made mention about using drop spindles from a s10 truck. Anyone familiar with that?

Lots of good fleetside wheel sizes / drop info in there but not much on stepsides. Maybe it will help. These guys have some incredible looking trucks ..

That sounds like a contradiction to me. Most all of the trucks I've seen with 20/22s and lowered are riding on rubber bands.

I personally feel it's all about you. Do what you want, it's your truck. 20's on all four looks really good IMO. .. but the truck really needs to sit 'right'. Measure, and measure again. I usually lower my truck first and then build the wheel / tire combo around it. Here's my DD for example. (S10, but .. ) It's all about the stance. (crappy cell phone pic but you get the idea)

Something you plan to drive I think there's a line there. For me, 20's would be it for a C10. Most guys I know that have done 18/20 wish they had 20's in the front too. .. but I have seen 17's all the way around a C10 and it looked awesome too. there's a dark blue stepper on here that's beautiful One of my all time personal favorites.

Bottom line, do what YOU like. .. just my .02.

I'm running 20x12's with a 31" tall tire in the rear and 18x8's with a 28" tall tire in the front on my 68 SWB.
