Re: 67-72 chevy crew cabs

Yes I did lengthen the frame using the 1/2 burb frame and 1/2 pick up frame. The way that I cut both you end up cutting off a little extra on both frames, that way you are not putting a section in I did a z joint with a backing plate. You absolutely can not tell that I lengthened the frame by looking at it. The frame extension was exactly 3 feet and yes I am doing this with an 8' bed. Both are 3/4 ton.I moved the center drive shaft support member forward and basically split the difference between the two drive shafts so they are equal lengthens. The pics I posted do not reflect the finish product, I am about to pull the cab back off I'll snap some pics and show you, including detail pictures of the reinforcement inside the frame.

Re: 67-72 chevy crew cabs

Im glad it is going to be a 4 door. Looks awesome. You are going to have to market the complete cabs, I know I would buy one......., Hell, I would even toss the body that is on my one ton if I could get one.

Re: 67-72 chevy crew cabs

Here's a really good thread on building a Crewcab. It really drives home the amount of time and skill required to do it correctly.

The factory never built any of these, that I know about. All CrewCab's were either home-made or built by a hand full of stage coach companies.
