Rear Axle ID
I need to identify my rear axle on my 98 K1500 as its starting to get pretty noisy and I want to order bearings for it. Any info would be appreciated.

Re: Rear Axle ID
Most likely a 8.5 10 bolt.

Re: Rear Axle ID
picture of the diff cover or its a game of chance on what you got .
could be original or swapped or custom swapped or tow package and bigger axle . look here and let us know . and try to post a pic . https://www.randysworldwide.com/diff...tification-gm/ and if 10 bolt there dime a dozen used . find one that matches and swap it in the whole axle . but pull the cover first and verify gear ratio and condition . i had to pull 3 covers to find a good one . used 10 bolts if open diff eat spider gears and carrier bearings a lot when making noise . and if G80 gov-loc option ( found in glovebox spid sheet sticker ) they love to go BOOM and can make lots of noise before they blow . and at this point its full reman and new carrier for ring gear .
