These are from a parts shipment headed for Hawaii that sunk back in '72, salvaged in '03. The boxes are what some bearings cam in for a '99

Re: old style locking hubs

Hey just so you know LMC truck offers them in the 1960-1966 truck catalog. Not sure if they will fit your application or not. I have an original set on my 64 K10 truck with the original cardon joint front axle or closed knuckle axle. Good luck!

I don't have an LMC catalog. Could you post a link or picture? Are you talking about Slectro knob-style?

Re: old style locking hubs

I am not very computer literate, I don't know how to post pics from other pages but I can direct you to their web site. Go to LMC truck look up chevy trucks 196-1964 pg 91 or search k10 locking hubs the part number is 36-1563 they are pricy at $394.95 but sometimes you have to pay for what makes you happy and makes your truck so much easier to enjoy! I love the original ones on my 64 if my lock outs need replaced on my 72 suburban and these will fit I will pay the extra $200. These are brand new selectro hubs and mine are real easy to engage they feel like a real quality hub when compared to new style we have today. I'll continue to try and learn how to post pics sorry!

Don't sweat it. I found them easily with your info. That's good to know. I actually have a set of old ones now, but good to see they still have them

Here is a link for anyone else that wants to check them out. I will personally have to see if they will fit my 72 when the time comes.

Re: old style locking hubs

selectro hubs i have seen have a set screw or 2 hidding behind the hand dial were your fingers would be .

once you pop them out the hub face comes off and its like a normal hub removal after that point.

Here are some I got off of a 64 K20. Never seen any like this before. I rebuilt with spicer gaskets and generic O rings. Truck does not run yet so don't know if they actually work, but they look cool.Name: IMG_0460.jpg

Re: old style locking hubs

A old thread but? Can the old spicer/lockout hubs from my 61 work on later big bearing hubs? the hubs are shorter than the 61's (for the disc brakes?) but the axle ends at the same place.

One of the biggest mistakes people make is using grease outside of the wheel bearings. The other is doing no service at all. Servicing required, clean and lube...with oil.

* Plastic in grille, too. And in '72, first plastic door panels. In '73, mucho mas plastico

I do different things on different trucks. I'd use Spicers on an original truck, and have had them on about every truck I've had. But, it's way cool to use period correct upgrades on the right truck, just like Hickey stuff, Eagle Ventures hoods, aluminum slots, Ramsey winch/bumper, etc. I started out modifying these trucks when they were newer. Who wants a boring stock old man truck? And I why not increase performance to add to the pleasure? I've bought most of my cool aftermarket hubs from guys who had to have the Spicers. i like them all. I have a N.O.S. set of Spicers and even some red '70 nobs to color coordinate my GMC.

Those knob-type Selectros were available from many sources with their own name on them. Here are some examples:

got a set of those in last pic on my k20 been wondering if i should swap them out..

If you decide to get rid of them let me know. One of mine could use a better actuating cam. If you decide to run them, they are cool!

I haven't put hubcaps on with mine, yet. Good to know. My truck is not yet worthy of such jewels.
