What is the tallest tire that will fit my 72' k5 4x4 with stock ride hight?
I'm considering 265/70/17 tires that are 31.7" tall.

What do ya think?

I can't give you a definite, for certain answer, but I had 12 x 33's on mine for about a week before getting the springs redone, and had no problems.

I don't know if you have a 2x or 4x, and "stock" height after 30 years can vary, I am sure, if you catch my drift.

I would imagine you would be OK, but if you really want to find out for sure, do some serious measuring, compare the tires you have now to what you want, and add that on with the wheels turned, that is usually the biggest problem, turning.

That's just for reference. Personnally I think you can get away with 33s without a lift if you do very minimal off roading. I currently have 31s with no lift and have plenty of clearance for all kinds of wheeling. From reading posts for the last year or so I get the feeling that there is no definative. What works for one may not work for someone else necessarily.

hat guy. i have 33x9.5x15 on my '71 k5 with no lift. i think i could fit 33x12.5x15 with no problems and when the 9.5's wear out i will be looking for a set of the 12.5's.

I've got 33X12.5's on mine. When I bought it it had the orginal springs in it. Never a problem on road, but off road, the fronts would rub on tight corners. 33X9.5's would probably be fine but I opted for a 2.5" lift from Skyjacker. No problems then.

265/70/17 is a stock tire size for 2005 GM 4x4 truck and suv. Are you thinking of using a set of 'take offs'? The center offset of a rim will be a big part of how wide and tall you can go without a lift.

I've seen photos of one with 38's on it - of course, there was a lot of trimming.

I think you need to get the centers of the wheels machined out to fit over the hubs also...

I'm looking at 59 Series - GM K-10 (4th one down) on this site

they say the can make a 17" Ralley wheel with the whatever
offset you need.
Tires are still undesided. Thake offs might be a good Idea

I run 32x11.50 on my stock height worn out blazer spring's and they dont rub or anything like that...
