HEI and stock tach

What a great website, eh? I installed HEI on my 350 and now the factory tach is inaccurate. Any ideas?

Welcome from Canada eh

I will move this to the main 67-72 board, it will likely get more responses there.

I read some posts (sorry, don't remember who/what/where) over on the CK5 board that talked about this issue. From the posts, seems the stock tach was never accurate above 4k anyway and once you hook up an HEI it's even worse. I haven't come across any posts on this site though.

Funny, I don't have a factory tach, but i just fixed my speedo in my truck and the damned speedo seems like it's not accurate over 4k

The tach should work fine on either type of distributor. It is just an 35 year old tach that was never acurate to begin with.
