Power Steering Questions

Looking to get a March serpentine kit for my 77 c10 that has manual steering. I'm getting the kit that includes power steering because I want to add that later on.

My question is, in the meantime do I fill the pump with fluid and just block everything off? Will it damage the pump doing this?

Also, when the time comes to add the power steering, is it really as simple as buying a power steering gear box, hooking up the lines, and that's it? Or are there other parts that I'll need?

Re: Power Steering Questions

I'm pretty sure you don't want to just block it off. Instead, you should loop a hose between the pump outlet and the pump inlet.

Do some more research, but this was the advice I was given. I'm wanting to start and tune my 5.3, without worrying about bleeding the power steering and hydroboost at the same time.
