Re: 72 Super Roadtrip-Coast to Coast

Your rear bumper steps are different from the others shown. that type of step was popular on station wagons and they made them for pickups, too.

I wonders earlier in the trip if you'd be passing through Cheyenne. I bought a '72 K/20 out of there... a Custom Deluxe. I don't think there's a town named that.

Ah yes, the Home Depot public auto repair lot. Just a seat swap...pffft. I met a guy at one up in PA at a home depot to pick up a set of 1t axles he brought from KS. Up in NY he had picked up a military K30 with tru-trac front/locker rear I just had to have. So, up on his trailer we robbed them out from under the truck. Had to go in a purchase bolt cutters for the e-brake cables (neither of us had much in the way of tools with us).
What does this have to do with a blue Cheyenne super SWB running coast to coast? Not a thing, but I had oatmeal w/blackberrys for breakfast, too.

How much money did you find under the seat. When I took the seat out of my truck to replace the carpet, I found almost $11 in nickels, dimes and quarters.

I thought I recognized the Easy Rider bike. Man, what a strange movie. Spirit of the times, I guess.

Terminator 2.
They also had a section on pulp fiction
The bike Bruce Willis rode
Can't remember if the it was there or not

Another cool display they had

Must be Saturday
Brad put his Tennessee shirt back on

And is watching College Game Day

Who would have ever imagined back in 72
That you would be able to watch tv
While cruising down the highway

Lets be thankful
We didn't find that much under there
Or

This
At dinner last night

Re: 72 Super Roadtrip-Coast to Coast

Stopped at Outfield's house to watch the Tennessee Florida game and we had to get a picture of our 3 trucks. I'm Outfield's son and I've got the 66 in the pictures. Tennessee just pulled ahead and Brad is excited!

You're in Oregon? I've been following this and didn't figure you'd be going anywhere near me, but now it looks like you might be getting kind of close to my neck of the woods. I'm just west of Portland.

Re: 72 Super Roadtrip-Coast to Coast

Just read every single post in this thread and loving every bit of it. What an exciting trip! I want to do this with my son in the future. Fly to the opposite coast, buy a truck and drive it home. Im 32 and he's 9 so I think we've got a few years. Like you, I'll definitely need a 2nd driver.

Keep up the awesome pictures and stories!

It was great having you and Brad over. Yea, good thing Tennessee won, or the you would of had a cranky passenger.

Re: 72 Super Roadtrip-Coast to Coast

This trip gets even better. I hope I can convince my own kid to do this at some point. I think it was Mark Twain who said he moved away from home when he was 17 and returned at 19. He was amazed at how much his dad had learned while he was gone!

We almost we're going to come thru Cheyenne
I wanted a picture in front of a city sign
It was just a bit further south than we wanted to go
The rubber has its own bolts going through the bumper. I am not home right now but from memory, yours looks like there is more of a chrome surround. Living in Cheyenne, I went out of my way to get a Super.

Awesome trip btw.

Re: 72 Super Roadtrip-Coast to Coast

Brad and I were talking a couple days ago
How, once we hit Washington, it felt familiar
The roads, road signs, gas stations, terrain, climate
It's subtle, but It all feels familiar
The whole trip across the country
You don't focus on the difference, but
The drive into the west coast just felt like we were home

You also see some stores
That only exist out here

We didn't go shopping
