SM465 PTO options?
The truck is a 1985 C60 2WD. Equipped with 5.7 and the 4 speed (SM465?) - 2 speed rear end. What are the PTO options for this transmission? Some part numbers will be appreciated.

After a few hours of research, I've found some information here. Some one suggests the 340 and 352 series Chelsea PTO should mesh just fine.

Re: SM465 PTO options?
Just start checking junk yards or even local clist. Tons of old square body’s floating around with ptos left on them.
What setup are you looking for? Lots of the early setups were ptos that drove a small Driveshaft. Later one seems to be direct pto mounted hydraulic pumps. |

Re: SM465 PTO options?
If the PTO is used on a rear apparatus. It will probably need a least a 8 in straight shaft coming out of the PTO case. Most attaching shaft yokes have clearance issues with the transmission case if the output shaft is shorter than that.

Hoping I have no major issues at 540rpm. Still doing research. Looks like I'll end up with about 9 feet long shaft under my single cab dually.

Re: SM465 PTO options?
try to keep the drive shaft to the pump as short as possible and simply use longer hydraulic lines...that way you won't need pillar block bearings and all the excess moving parts..just plumb the high-pressure lines to whatever you intend to power.....a couple of valves and you're all set...

Re: SM465 PTO options?
Your going to have a keyed stem shaft coming out of PTO unit, make sure it clears transmission case. Then you will attach the longer shaft to the PTO and hydraulic pump. That's when you get into yokes, pillar bearings, angles, etc...
