how many 1st gen. 2 wheelers were made?

can someone post the official number of 2wd blazers and jimmys that general motors sold between 70 and 72? i read something in a bookstore a few years ago, but i cant remember the actual numbers. i have been quoting 500-1000 2wd blazers in the 1st year. ive never seen anything about jimmys. it would be nice to know the actual production numbers. if anyone knows how many 4x4's were made that might be interesting too to figure out percentages.

985 for the 1970 model year, 1500-1700 for 71, and about 3300 for 72. It is here somewhere.

---found it. 1971 - 1277 ; 1972 - 3357

Not nearly enough in my opinion... Of course, if they were every where, I probably wouldn't want one so much.

Total production numbers can be found in the spec section on CK5.com

Cool Re: how many 1st gen. 2 wheelers were made?

thanks that was what i was looking for. i found the spot on ck5 but it left out the 2 wheelers. so roughly 5500 1st gen c5's plus however many jimmys?
low production numbers and this much coolness don't come together very often unless you're in the early corvette or rs/ss factory 4 speed camaro club. i know i'd rather have my topless blazer on the beach or at the river anyday.

Re: how many 1st gen. 2 wheelers were made?

I would love to know exactly how many are still left, especially the 1970 models. I think at the time these vehicles emerged, the market was so caught up and driven by 4x4's, that no one really was interested in 2wd's. Gas was extremely cheap, so you could have more fun trailing and rock crawling, than cruising. Why not go with the 4x4?

As far as their rarity, I think most were parted out. The big three still controlled aftermarket parts and were super expensive. So when "Johnny" wrecked his 4x4, he went to grandma and got her old 2wd, swapped the bodies and all the parts, and the 2wd frame is now a set of metal table legs. Again, because no one cared about the 2wd's. There are a few more out there though.....just gotta find them.

Re: how many 1st gen. 2 wheelers were made?

I think there is a thread about the 2 wheelers, it was the 1st one i posted in. It would be great to get an actual count of the remaining c5's. Unfortunately i know several of my friends that appreciate classic cars and trucks, who will never be on a computer. I'm absolutely sure that there are many people like that across the country. The 2 wheel drive 1st gen blazer is one of those classics that was underappreciated in its day. After 36 years and all those 4x4's wearing out, it sure is nice to work on such an uncomplicated vehicle. Im glad that the production numbers were so low, how long before these trucks are worth as much money as the pre 1962 corvettes?
I wonder why no numbers were kept for the jimmys? Obviously they are more rare than the blazers?
P.S. this is just my opinion but i think all of my fellow c5 owners should stop bagging and slamming these classics. All the cutting and scraping should be left to the nissans, and the s-10 crowds. Normally i back the rednecks 100%, but this one went right over my head?

Re: how many 1st gen. 2 wheelers were made?

I agree about keeping some Original ones, especially the 1970 models. The only thing I will change on my '70 is converting it to automatic. Otherwise it will be bone stock.

No 2wd's were manufactured in 69, unless they were GM prototypes

See linky -> http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=104816

The C - series in a Blazer is a 2wd, and K - series in a Blazer is a 4wd
