Can anyone tell me what this is ?

My buddy is redoing a '72 1/2 ton stepside. This bracket was left in the parts bin.
It looks like it "might" be for the emergency brake cable but hes not sure and neither am I.
Can anyone ID this thing ? Thanks !!!!

Thumbs up Re: Can anyone tell me what this is ?

I was thinking it's the power assist bracket for the ram arm.

I know the fender washers I remember had no little bolts to them just the big washer and single bolt.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Can anyone tell me what this is ?

I called my buddy and told him about the fender bracket and he said thats not it. As far as something for the power steering, I'll ask him about that later tonight. Where would it go if it was for the ram arm ?

Under the frame for the ram arm rod to attach to the drivers side frame. If that is what it is. This is just my guess. It looks like the one off my 64 SS Impala.

I'm with Boog. The lower fender support brackets on my 72 look exactly like that. Bolts and all.

Fenders are already on the truck. My buddy said this bracket looks very similar but hes sure that theyre not for the fenders.

Looking at that picture I would say that's what it is. I have never taken one off myself so I assume that's what it is.

Re: Can anyone tell me what this is ?

Just so you guys know, my buddy has owned this truck for close to 30 years. He repainted it himself back in the day. This time he did a body off. Trucks painted, drivetrains in. Hes just finishing up the small things. This bracket was in one of the rubbermaid tubs. He thought it was part of the steering column but so far he cant figure out where it goes. Nothing lines up with the bolt holes.
I think I know how the fender brackets look. They go on the front pillars. His are already on.
This has to be something really simple.

Re: Can anyone tell me what this is ?

It is a reinforcement for the lower fender mount. Absolutely, positively, for sure.

Re: Can anyone tell me what this is ?

Thanks for all the replies guys. I sent him a text a few minutes ago telling him what you all think it is. I know he got a couple of rust free OEM fenders from a guy he knows. Im thinking maybe one of those fenders came with a bracket and he used it instead of the one from his truck.
Im sure I'll hear from him tomorrow morning. Thanks again !

Re: Can anyone tell me what this is ?

If he replaced the sheet metal in that area, like rocker that has the front and rear door jams, the lower fender mount bracket may have been built-in to those replacement parts. Mine were. My question is...do I need to put the mounting brackets on in conjunction with the "built-in" tabs??? I don't think I do as the fit is good and it feels real sturdy.

Do you know who is the manufacturer of that part? HEEhheeheeehe, Compresssions 8.7 to 1!

That was pretty good!

Re: Can anyone tell me what this is ?

The rocker panel I attached was a quick pic grab from the net...it's supposed to be
Dynacorn 1104D Rocker Panel that was being advertised on ebay. It was just similar to the one I used on my truck with the mounting hole built-in, if that is really how it's supposed to be used.

My question still stands...should the mount brackets be added to the forward ear of my patch panel?

Glad you liked the sig ( I borrowed it from another car site ).
