cab lights.....installation help

hello guys and gals....

picking up my 72 burb 2wd 3/4 ton tomorrow and wish to install the yankee brand chrome teardrop cab lights that came off my dad's 72 suburban. wondering if there is/was a dealer template or something to find the position for drilling holes. i want it to look right and not just eyeball it. any info you can give me is greatly appreciated!

thanks!

Do you have a factory assembly manual? It would probably show the locations in there.

Re: cab lights.....installation help

no, i do not have a factory manual for my burb. i have a 72 burb dealer brochure that i got off ebay and it has given me a good launch pad as to what my had for equipment and options to look into (eventually upgrading from standard 3/4 ton rear coils to the optional HD units for heavy trailer towing).

i have seen enough 67-72 gm trucks with the same exact lights. i am hopeful that dealers (or the factory) used a template for drilling the holes and that they weren't just done with a tape measure and eye balling it. i wish i had made a template from my dad's 72 burb 14 years ago when we pulled the cab lights.....would have saved a lot of headache now. maybe i will find a truck in a j-yard or someone else will make a template while their truck is apart for resto or whatever. things will work out, i am confident in that.....

Thanks!

Re: cab lights.....installation help

It shows where to mount them in my 1972 truck manual. Both the factory hockey puck and dealer installed tear drops are shown. I will look for you what the measurements are, but I can't help you with a scan, my scanner isn't working right now. Trevor

Re: cab lights.....installation help

well, dang, I thought it gave dimensions in the manual, but all it shows is a illustration of them and no measurements. Sorry, Trevor

Re: cab lights.....installation help

I know a young fellow who just installed them in the original holes on his truck, I will ask him to measure if you would like.
