63 GMC Project

I picked up this truck begining of this year to start a new project, originally plan was to just put a nice drop and just cruise it around but hey, you know how that goes one thing leads to another. Here are some pics of all the changes over the last couple of months. The following picture represent the truck the way i purchased it up through upgrading to the entire suspension from an 84 C-10 with flip kit and drop coils and spindles on 20 & 22" Centerline Smoothies, then I still wasn't happy so i ordered a drop member and rear suspension from Suicide Doors.

Re: 63 GMC Project

here are some pics of the motor. The guy painted the entire motor detroit yellow and i mean everything dist. cap and brackets everything. So i took a wire wheel and sandpaper and got to work. Now its painted with all new gaskets, seals, headers, plugs, plug wire, HEI cap, and a couple of others.

Great looking truck, man. Your windshield is telling me that it's not a 63 though. Could just be a typo though. Great truck none the less.

Re: 63 GMC Project

Well that's what I thought to but the guy that I bought the truck from informed me that 63 was a split year for GMC and after doing my homework and getting the original title it is a 63, I guess it's kinda like in 07 when they made two different body style 1500's, but thanks for looking out.

Re: 63 GMC Project

That may not be the original cab. The flat windshield cabs didn't come out untill '64. A previous owner may have swapped cabs and put the original VIN tag into the newer cab.

Re: 63 GMC Project

Shouldn't there be a shock mount bar across the top of the notches?

Re: 63 GMC Project

Just noticed you have the square shaped grille letters from a 66.

Re: 63 GMC Project

Creep, I give up trying to figure out what year this truck is; the owner i bought it from argued with me when i bought it that 63 had a split year that why the A pillar is raked back instead of foward and now the grille. And yes i do still have to install the shock mount bar across the notches and plenty more, but were getting there. Have you been able to get some crusin in up there or has the weather been bad.
