I would also make sure the center bearing is not partially seized and noisy.....

I replaced the rear u-joint with a new heavy duty unit that was pre-packed and had a grease nipple. I provided additional grease, the recommended stuff from the GM manual.

The center u-joint and front u-joint do not have a grease nipple. I should have replaced them when I had the d.s. out but didn't. Now I'm trying to avoid removal again.

Also, when doing all my suspension work I replaced the center support bearing with Inland Empire Driveline high impact polyeurothane unit. https://www.iedls.com/Our_Difference When I unbolt it and lift up the d.S. it spins very freely, without drag, resistance, or noise.
