Re: My maaco paint job.

That's how saw it too. Then yesterday they changed the deal again when all of a sudden they didn’t want to use the fender I had for them, and wanted to look for a new one. This is after I’ve had three other shops and this Maaco tell me "no problem".

This morning I was there before they opened to grab my truck. They tried to do the it’s in pieces with no windshield, and no lights so you can’t drive it.. I was like screw it, I’ll put it back together. So I mounted the fender and hood (took 10min), rapped the windshield in a blanket, and drove the damn truck home with a pair of dirt bike goggles. Feels pretty good to tell those guys off and have my truck back!

I think I'd trust a vocational tech school to paint it before I went that route...

Re: My maaco paint job.

Its too bad your not closer. I would be curious to see what the one i went to would qoute you. I had alot of body work but it sounds like you have more. But i would imagine it would still be right around the $2k mark.

Re: My maaco paint job.

Do you have any idea if the same guys are still working at the Maaco in Gresham? I live out west of town, and will be getting ready for paint this spring/summer, and was planning in shooting it myself. If they do a decent job for the price they charged you, I may consider just having someone else spray it.

Re: My maaco paint job.

Sorry for the delay. Sadly, the one Iused got taken over by tthe one in Clackamas so i can't vouch for their quality. You would really just gave to stop by each and see how they feel to you.

Re: My maaco paint job.

No problem. In the meantime I have just decided to spray it myself. Might as well, since I'm already doing all the bodywork...

Still looking great.

Tomorrow I start striping down my Burb. It goes to Maaco Monday for paint.

Holy crap for $1500 that's the best deal I've seen. I guess it's still holding together? Does your burb sit outside in the weather? Looks very nice...

Re: My maaco paint job.

Yes it does. Like i have said, it has a 5 year warranty on it. I suspect that it will start to look a little faded around that 5 year mark and im betting it will need another paint job within probably another 5 years after that. Maaco was just a way of buying some time.

I had quite a bit of body work done, every panel had at least a ding in it plus they finished the gas door I welded in to replace the cap style and finished the tailgate handle delete. They painted and prepped the whole truck minus inside the bed. All in all it was 3k. Here is a few before pics.
