Factory Jack Handle Help!

I am trying to put the jack handle back into its original location in the passenger side cab corner. It is a survivor 1972 GMC C2500 Longstep. I was told it goes up inside the pillar and then drops down. I have the original foam bag and the lug wrench. There is also a clip in the cab corner as well. Anybody have some guidance on this? Also was the jack wrapped in foam as well. There was another piece of the same foam that the handle goes in stuff in the cab corner. Was this for the jack? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Factory Jack Handle Help!

Jack should go on the floor with a long spring and a clip to hold it down. Jack handle and breaker bar in the bag held by the spring piece that's screwed into the pillar.

I can't seem to get it in the pillar, it doesn't go in either way. Is there a trick to it? I tried putting it in the bottom then into the pillar and the other way.

Re: Factory Jack Handle Help!

Maybe someone else can help as I've actually never installed a set I've seen pictures. The spring should be able to move out a bit...

Re: Factory Jack Handle Help!

The spring part is no problem. The handle appears to be too long. I was told by someone else that it is difficult to get it back in, but so far I have had no luck with it. Thanksfor the reply, hopefully someone else can help

The first and second picture below are from a 70 and I don't know what year the instruction sheet was in. I see what you mean, the bend in the bar will make it stick out away from the corner. Someone here will know !!!

Re: Factory Jack Handle Help!

If anyone is looking for the spring and bracket for the jack I will gladly mail it to you. Took it out when I redid my floors and never put it back in.

Re: Factory Jack Handle Help!

I figured it out tonight. I question whether or not the handle was ever properly installed in the cab corner. I think the top must have stuck out. The reason is there is 1.5" (deep) of seam sealer in the bottom of my cab corner(s). I drilled a 5/8" hole in the seam sealer and stuck the handle in the hole in the sealer and then I was able to get it into the upper part of the cab corner. Thanks for you help!

Re: Factory Jack Handle Help!

Here is how I found the jack handle and pouch. As you can see the top is sticking outside of the pillar.
