Re: GMC Lovers Check This Out!!!!!!

I have no realistic chance to buy this truck but I often bid on trucks just on the chance that it could be bought cheap. I also like to think it is in helpful in keeping our truck values higher.

Re: GMC Lovers Check This Out!!!!!!

That truck is gee-orgeous!

That one SPID is my '72 K2500 with Z84. I have seen both codes, too. And,I've seen the Sierra Grande listed as a Cheyenne Super...and,I've seen Sierras with Sierra Grande on the SPID. So,kinda hard to ridicule. If it's an original SPID you just have to go by how well the truck matches it. Basicaly,a person with a Sierra that says Sierra Grande on the SPID can add the Grande parts and pass it off as a legitimate Sierra Grande.

I like the 68-70 grilles better. They are the "cleanest" of 67-72. I guess if someone wasn't concerned with 100% correct and preferred the minor difference they would swap. Or,it could be the owner doesn't even know.

I guess I'm missing the point here. Did these trucks come with those wheels?

I've been doing the same thing lately. I know you can buy one of these cheaper than you can build one, but it's still fun to do the build. I'd like to find one in between.

This is a rare one, it will be interesting to see what it bids to.

Re: GMC Lovers Check This Out!!!!!!

I bought my truck on E-Bay and ended up with a pretty good deal. I have to say the seller was a little over-optimistic with his fantastic review of the truck and it's history. It has made me very cautious of glowing reviews. I'm also a little leary of sellers with very little history (he's only sold one other item). He doesn't have a lot to lose if he gets a bad review. It's not like someone that makes a living at it and has established a long history of great feedback. They can't afford bad reviews.

Ebay has an option, for $99, to order an independent inspection. That might be worthwhile. If I buy another one there, I would at least look into that. I think the best protection is what I did - to go take delivery of the vehicle personally and not fork over any cash until you have inspected it to your satifaction.

Other than all that, the truck does look really gorgeous (and so does the one he sold last month: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=200572764235)
Good luck bidding on this! If it's all that he says it is, you'll have a great truck!

With the parchment interior, is that correct to have the black seat belts and carpeting?

That came up just a few weeks ago and we somewhat ended up with a consensus that column color, dash pad and space between the dash pad and the windshield matches seat belt color with the only exceptions found were Highlander equipped trucks. My stone-stock Cheyenne Super with build sheet has Parchment interior, tilt-wheel, black dash pad and black seat belts.

My GMC has parchment interior, but the dash pad and carpeting were missing but the outer seat belts are there and they are parchment, how many color combinations did they have with parchment interior?

Re: GMC Lovers Check This Out!!!!!!

I believe, if the color of your defrost vents and space between the dash pad and windshield is black, your seat-belts should be black. If the same parts are Sandalwood (light tan), your belts should be Parchment (assuming your truck does not have the Highlander package which I can't recall seeing on a GMC).

Does yours have tilt? I have only seen the black vents in '72s.

I had a '72 Custom Deluxe with Sandalwood dash pad, defrost vents, no tilt, parchment interior and parchment seat belts.

I would guess that the original non-tilt column in the GMC in question is Sandalwood (light tan). If so, I would expect the seat belts to be parchment.

That sounds just about like my truck. It has a sandalwood column and the outer parchment seat belts are there. The seat belts that are under the seat were gone, no dash pad and it is custom Deluxe. Here is the spid for it

Yes,the non-tilt column in a Parchment interior would be Sandalwood as well as the steering wheel, dash pad, defrost vents, and top of dash and everything else Parchment. A/c vents would be body color.
With tilt the column is black,as well as the steering wheel, dash pad, defrost vents, top of dash,a/c vents, maybe the belts but I'm thinking Parchment, and everything else Parchment. The only '72 Cheyenne Super I had with Parchment interior didn't have the original belts in it.Carpet is black, too. I believe w/o tilt would be Sandalwood
