Leftovers

Lets try this again... My newest addition to the stable is a 68 C20 Camper Special LWB that is getting the 4wd conversion. The project name is Leftovers. First post will have up to date info and pics. Post 2 is a little back story. Post 3 is where it all starts

Re: Leftovers

First, a little back story...

A few months ago i picked up a 70 wedge back car hauler with the plans to make it a crew cab. With school and everything else going on, I couldn't afford to do anything with it. So last week, a local hot rodder picked up the hauler and plans to haul his 60's gasser on it. Glad it went to another enthusiast.

This still doesn't fix my itch for a 4x4 67-72. I had a 71 CST out in SoCal, and I never wanted to sell it, but I couldn't afford to ship it and my Ranger both back from San Diego. Here are a couple pictures of that ol gal

When I bought it

When I sold it

Re: Leftovers

Now that the wedge is gone, my dad is paid off, and my stress level is lower, I got to thinking what am i going to do with the leftover parts I had from the wedge?

The parts I am talking about are all the components of a 68 cab.

These were a gift from my dad. He took it off his rat rod project because of the lackluster condition. Instead of scrapping it out, he gave it to me for a christmas gift.

Couple more pics

He also had this C20 he stole the cab from sitting in back in the woods. I gave him a few greenbacks and now i had some more left overs. (See where the name comes in?)

Here are some pics

Re: Leftovers

So now I have a cab, a frame, a bed, a running gear (that I have no idea if it works), and a pretty nasty interior. Plans are simple.

1.) Get the cab on, and see if it will run
2.) Find a front axle, and use DIY4X's components to get the axle installed.
3.) If it doesn't run, get a JY setup that will run.

So as you can see, everything on this truck will be hand-me-downs or leftovers from another project or JY parts. This is how I built my Ranger and I had a blast building that thing.

PS. Yes, I am keeping those kick ass steelies. I sold the centercaps to Crewcab59 on here since they are 2wd caps.

Tear 'em up, Cowboy! Semper Fi! Check out Dunenutt's thread. He did a gorgeous conversion of his dad's old truck. Good luck, looks like fun!

Re: Leftovers

Thanks brother! Semper Fi!

Notice how so many Marines have excellent taste in their choice of pickups? I love it!

Going there now!

Re: Leftovers

Got all my hydroboost stuff in. Now i just need to buy the adapter, and that little project will be done. Also have a lead on a small block 350. May just throw that in there while I've got plenty of room

Re: Leftovers

Kind of an update.

I got all my hydroboost parts in for this, and the clip moved over on the frame.

Since i put the 68 clip on the C10, I moved the 69-72 clip to this truck. Now to do this, we used a bobcat...

That man is crazy on a bobcat, and not in a good way.

Just sat it on there

Dad needed the cab for a customer build, so he snagged that from me. He said he will replace it with another one, so no big deal there.

Re: Leftovers

Got my cab last weekend. It needs a little work, but got it for a great deal, so I couldn't pass it up. It is an A/C cab already, so that makes it even easier.

The PO tried to shave the drip rail on the passenger side, so that and the floor pan will be the most work. It has a little bit of rot in the windshield channel, but should be able to get it straightened out fairly easily.

Remember how I said I got it for a good deal? All this came with it.

The hood is in really good shape along with the 72 grille (which I will use on this truck. I won't be using the chrome one from Nasty.) I also go the doors, which need some help. They have a pretty good amount of rust in them, but I think with some sheet metal work, they are still salvageable. The bumper is pretty rough, but will serve the purpose for now. The tailgate is a lettered tailgate that needs a little work, but everything else on this truck needs work too, so why not the tailgate?

Once we get the Nasty painted, we are pulling Leftovers down to the shop and putting her together. Next I'm going to try and locate Cheyenne Super trim cheap, so we can get that on. One step at a time I guess.

Re: Leftovers

Still collecting parts for this truck. Basically using all my driver quality items off Nasty on this. All the interior and much of the trim will be used for this truck. Once I get a 3/4 ton 73-87ish frame, I'll start putting the body together

Just thought I'd give those who care an update
